Review summary

Do not book with Norwegian Gem. It is a ship full of foreigners that hardly speak any English. You will be charged extra hidden fees. $14/day per person just to be on the boat. Everything on the boat is too expensive. The Bahamas are nasty and not worth it. Blue Lagoon is a joke and it's over $80/person EXTRA just to go there for 5 hours! No. We will NEVER go on a cruise again especially not with Norwegian Gem!

There's two small pools and 4 hot tubs. one side is for adults and the other side is for children. Everything is old and needs to be updated. It's too small to accommodate that many people.

Toilet paper, urine all over the toilet seats. The bathrooms smell of urine. In the cabins they don't turn down the blankets they just make the bed. Rooms were filthy when we boarded and we not ready. The casino everyone smoked in flicking their ashes on the floor and it was nasty.

Ship tip

Restaurants are overpriced! Loudspeakers in the pool area and sunbathing deck should be shut off! Extremely loud. Don't sail on the Norwegian Gem. Period! There is not one American worker on the ship. They don't understand English very well. This ship is a complete joke!

We did not go! They refunded is $50/per person but never gave us an explanation why we didn't go. It's ridiculous.

The island is nasty! All the coral is dead. It's a poor island with poor people on one side and rich people on the other. As soon as you get off the boat, you are surrounded by the natives trying to braid your child's hair or trying to hustle you. We had a police officer stop us and told us we should stay on the boat because it wasn't safe to be out. Unreal why these cruise ships even travel there!
