Wasn’t fully impressed by stace311

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

This was my very first cruise ever and I was not totally impressed. My family travels on NCL about 3 times a year and never have anything bad to say. They had me all pumped up and yet I was disappointed. My main disappointment was the food in Savor & Taste. It was ALWAYS cold! The coffe was gross so I paid extra to have a cappuccino instead and it was COLD! I had to send it back in order to get a hot cup. Very disappointing. The menu is not anything great either. The buffet is your basic buffet, not something you can eat everyday. We had a 3 speciality restaurant package and wound up adding another restaurant in just so we didn’t have to eat at the main dining room. We also paid $98.00 on lunch in Bermuda just so that we could have hot food. That probably was the best food we had and wasn’t anything fancy. My family couldn’t believe it when I told them! And I am far from a picky eater. Other than the food, the choir of man was AMAZING and Vince, Ravi, and Brent at District Brewhouse were outstanding. I did like the ship and the different things to do and I thought it was very clean. Was just EXTREMELY disappointed with the food.

This is a cruise I'd do again in a heartbeat, and just may in 2020. I met sooo many great people before AND during my cruise. Lifelong friends have been made.

An amazing ship, I had... by Billzilla66

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

An amazing ship, I had a great time (except for Bingo when the caller was encouraging people to tell her what number they're waiting for, almost like she was cheating). All the food was amazing, except for the Hawaiian Pork Belly which was like burnt caramel. Very hard to cut through and stuck ferociously to my teeth. I loved the buffet breakfast, found they had pickled herrings and salmon mousse, both great with English muffins. I didn't try all the specialty restaurants, but the ones I did Moderno and Tappenyaki were my favorites. Tons of activities to do and multiple parties in the Spice H20 (weather permitting, last party was canceled), and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely cruise with NCL again.

Bermuda Cruise on the Escape by cayuris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Cruise was ok, but these ships are too big with too many people. Common areas were always crowded. Reservations need to be made when you book the cruise if you wait until you get on board you may not get in. Rooms are small but adequate. Buffet was ok, but not great compared to those on other cruises.

Second cruise this year on... by spicymeatball

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Second cruise this year on the escape, major disappointment second time around, starting with embarking, longest wait ever to get on the ship, 345 pm got there at 1030 am. Finally once we got on the ship you couldn’t get in your room until 630 pm. Food wasn’t as good as first time, seems it’s slipped a bit, don’t know why but just seemed a little off. Our ocean view room was cleaned twice the whole trip and the room steward seemed like he didn’t care either. It takes 3.5 days to get to Bermuda and 1.5 to get back. The casino dealers are happy to take yer money and seemed tired and needed a break. Played in the slot tournament that was confused and disorganized. And another one on top of another. Shows we’re booked so you couldn’t get in. Lol overall I wouldn’t sail the escape a third time. I guess my first visit was too good to be true. But don’t let that hold you back go enjoy yourself, we still have fun, amongst all the fights and people getting kicked of the ship in Bermuda.

I had an amazing time... by xoadj98

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

I had an amazing time on the Escape! It was so sad waking up this morning knowing I had to disembark. The food and entertainment was awesome! I went to Cagney’s, Teppanyaki and Moderno and loved all three! The servers and bartenders were great all around. I highly recommend all the shows on board. I saw Choir of Man, The Brat Pack and After Midnight.. all amazing! If you’re looking for some entertainment at night, I HIGHLY recommend going to see Howl at the Moon! I always have a great time at their shows! So much talent on the ship and a lot of things to do! I hope whoever is cruising on this ship has a great time, can’t wait to sail on her again!

Just got back today from... by CpeCdr

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Just got back today from being on the NCL Escape to Florida and the Bahamas. We had a great time on this ship! First, the wait at the NYC terminal was relatively painless. O different than going through TSA at the airport. Was allowed on the ship around 11:30 am and our rooms were ready around 1:30. There have been a lot of comments about hidden fees, so of course, I was on the lookout for these hidden fees! When you are in port and you have the unlimited drink package, you are charged the local tax on each of these drinks. We are talking less than $1.50 per drink. Once out to sea, no more charges. There are no other hidden fees. You buy something, you’re charged! But, buyer beware on some of these jewelry sales! They have at the end of the cruise watch deals, one is Caribbean Joe watches They are 2 for $40.00. Sounds good, right? They sell at Walmart for $19.97. The other buyer beware: the art auctions. I bought a art piece, was told it was going to be $300.00..... when I went to pick up the paperwork the next morning, they charged me $495.00. When I questioned this, I was more or less told I had buyers remorse and was basically full of you know what. Needless to say, the order was cancelled and this art curator got an earful. Things to do: a million! The shows are really good, especially the Brat Pack and After Midnight. There are a couple other shows you can pay to see, which we did not do. Must do: 80’s night and White Party (Norwegian night out) all up at Spice H2O. Ports: was absolutely amazed at how well organized NCL is on this. We got on and off the ship so easily! It was great. Book your excursions early though as they do book up. Swimming with the Stingrays on The NCL was really good and reasonable. Staff on the ship and island go above and beyond to make everything perfect for you! Two more things. (1) specialty restaurants. Not sure if we had a bad night because the reviews are usually all good, but was not impressed with Carney’s. The wait staff tried to rush you to eat and take your plate when you aren’t even done! I had the prime rib, and it was very tough. We did go to La Cucina and the reviews were so-so, but we found it to be excellent from the food, presentation, taste and service. We also did Bayamo, and wouldn’t go again. This restaurant has an upcharge if $10.00 per person. O’Sheehans was really good - typical pub type food and the Garden Cafe also was good. Lunch tended to be repetitious, but lots of choices (2) gratuity. From what we know from being told, it aapears the gratuity that you pay each day, which is $14.50 pp, we believe is split up amongst a whole host of staff from servers to dishwashers with that being said, these folks work really hard, long hours for days on end. So, when someone goes a little bit above for you, slip them a buck or two. Would we go again? Yup. Booked a 14 day cruise on the ship and bought the Cruisenext Double Up promo!! Hope you all have a great trip on the Escape!

This was my first cruise,... by bumblebecca

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

This was my first cruise, and I'm a little disappointed with it. The ship was really big, but there wasn't a lot to do on board unless you're happy with getting plastered and watching trivia, sitting by the pool, or watching the same movie three times in a week. My boyfriend, his mother, and I all got food poisoning at some point during the week from the ship's food. Bermuda was beautiful but we barely got any time there. Not to mention the ship rocked like crazy, I was actually thrown against the wall multiple times because our cabin was right in the front of the ship. We did go to Teppanyaki and had literally the best steak I've ever had in my life, and the buffet food was usually pretty good too. Our cabin steward, Ed, was incredible, always making our tiny inside cabin look great.
