Review summary

I really liked Norwegian. Our cruise was during a hurricane and we were given the option to stay on board to ride out the storm or get off the ship. The service was awesome amd never waivered.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
Miami port was fine.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Beaches were nice and excursion on yhe katamaran was fun.

Harvest Caye, Belize

1 out of 5
It wasn't actually Belize. It was an island for the cruise ships with a pool, bar and ugly beach. The beach had jellyfish warnings, the drinks and all the souvenirs were terribly expensive. I was disappointed and would have no interest in returning.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico Did not visit port

Hurricane, different itinerary

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
It was fun, we had some genuine Mexican food but souvenirs very expensive. We tried to buy toothpaste cause we had run out and they wanted $9.00, so little crazy.

Disembarkation

Smooth and fast

Thank you. So people already on the cruise had extra time onboard and other people got on for the $13.99 mentioned above? Where did they fit all the extra people? Wow, so they basically got a free cruise?

It was a regular cruise that was cancelled due to Irma. Upon returning to Miami on 9/7, the Escape transported about 1500 people out of harms way. We spent sometime on the sea and finally docking in Cozumel for a few days; returning to Miami on 9/13.

I’m confused... so was this a regular cruise or did the Escape act as a shelter or both? Can someone pls tell me?

We live in SWFL and will be cruising next month. We currently have No Power or Water. Its one of those things you deal with living in otherwise paradise. The cruise line doesn't have to do anything at all. You were blessed enough to take a vacation. That's my opinion. :)

Yashu - the issue is not that the drinks were cut off, because I don't really drink. The issue with the internet is that it was provided so people could communicate with their families and could also contact the airlines and then it was cut off. They did some things right, but other things could have been done better. It's funny how you have an opinion, but did not experience the cruise. I was on the ship, where were you?

Cruznvacay I do feel very bad for every one in Florida and do hope the recovery goes well.

Yashu    7 years ago

Philly, yes that is your opinion and these are our opinions. you were happy to commend them about how they handled the situation but you were also happy to bash them about cutting you off of the bar and Internet. So our opinion is SHAME ON YOU!! they made no money off of you but you still cry when they cut off the perks. But hey, that is just my opinion after all.

I am. Not one to speak up a d say my feelings but this to e i did we a say how i felt to this review. I agree u have ur opinion and I just wanted to make it clear that u were very blessed to be given the cha ce to leave the state and have warm food and a.c. and even a bar to Buy drinks from bc most of fl didn't. And most spend money they didn't hv to try n get outta the storms way so I'm just saying going without a drink pkg was far from a real issue. sorry it bothered U. But had u been dealing with what the rest of Florida had been dealing during and after the hurricane I bet u didn't care if the drinks were taken away from being free and elf have not cared about internet. that's all I was trying to explain. glad for u that u were able to get on the ship and leave Florida. it was terriable and still is. bless Florida and all the ppl who lost everything . hugs n prayers going to u all non stop. 😙😇😇😇😢💘

Once again - it is MY opinion. My apologies if people are offended by MY opinion. As stated I commend NCL for how they handled the situation.

cruznvacay    7 years ago

It's a dam war zone down here. if they had a safe place to ride out storm that's more then most of fl. . agree with u yashu

Yashu    7 years ago

cruznvavay - totally agree. I may have been far far north of this hurricane but I feel for every one who had to rough it out due to it. For 13.99 a night I would NEVER complain about them "lacking" a bit even if they promised you all that.

cruznvacay    7 years ago

some of us had to evacuate and pay hundreds of hundreds to find a safe place to stay. I mean, FOR 13.99 a night what did u expect??? the fact that u r upset abiut them not having free drinks and ur internet was not what u wished it wld be is not being very appreciative of the fact that Ncl could have had ppl get off the ship and not feed you all warm meals and a air cond. rooms.. I mean, Lots of ppl didn't have ac, A warm meal and a safe place to ride out this horrific storm. YOU MAY NOT MEAN IT TO SOUND UNAPPRECIATIVE BUT MAYBE STEP BACK AND RETHINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT SO MANY PPL DIDN'T HAVE A QUARTER OF WHAT U HAD! AND FOR THAT REASON ALONE MAYBE RETHINK HOW UR MESSAGE SOUNDS. I FOR ONE HAD WAYYYYY LESS DURING THE STORM THEN U DID.

PhillyBrownGirl    7 years ago

I don't see it as ungrateful. I am very grateful for what was done, and I was not complaining. In MY opinion, I some things could have been handled differently. For example the internet access (the comp 15 minutes appeared and disappeared several times as did the 24-hour access); also telephones. There were 6 phones for 2000 people. NCL did a great job of keeping us out of harms way, but let's be clear, it was more about their ship, than the passengers.

maktas    7 years ago

Just returned from the Escape. Thumbs up to NCL. They provided a safe place for us. Their service and hospitality was great . As far as drink packages no other cruise line offers them for free as a perk. That is so not important . There are many other ways to enjoy a vacation then drinking. NCL all the way!!

ang06062 This ship and a few others do deserve this for sure. I'll be on her at the end of this month and will be VERY proud as well.

ang06062    7 years ago

This ship receives the "humanitarian" award. I'm so proud to say I've been on it! #seacruisers

Yashu    7 years ago

Philly, that sounds really ungrateful of you seeing how they have you shelter and transportation away from a very devastating hurricane and all you care to do is complain that they could have been more accommodating with the drinks and Internet?

PhillyBrownGirl    7 years ago

I agree some. I thought they could have been more accommodating with the beverage packages and the Internet. Other than that, it was an awesome hotel stay for $13.99 a day🙂.
