Review summary

Was not a fan of this ship at all.  Dining rooms were ugly (Manhattan was nicer), and the menu choices were bad.  They throw one thing in new each night, and then they have supplemental choices for like $24.99.  Looks cheap to me.  Carnival still has lobster night, and you have to pay extra on ncl to get something decent.  We actually liked the food at the buffet better.  O'Sheehans was always good.  Also better food than the dining rooms.  Had Tapas one day and it was good, but cost us almost $80 for the 4 of us.  Everything is extra and it really ruins the experience.  The theater is small.  They brought us the wrong food one night so we ran to our show and were literally 2 minutes late and had to stand in the back.  All three of us couples had several errors on our bill that required another stand in line at guest services.  I could go on.  We had fun, but it was of our own making.  I think we are going to try carnival again next time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food choices in dining rooms were same every night with one different thrown in each night. Was served the wrong thing one night and waitress insisted that the roast chicken she brought us was indeed chicken kiev. She finally came out with chicken kiev and said they got it wrong. However, that made us late for the show so we had to stand in the small theatre. La Cucina was not as good as last time, and even though we had a voucher, we were limited on what we could order. It's kind of embarrassing when you try to order something and then they tell you that you can't choose from that category. Give me a break.

Ship Quality

I was so disappointed in this ship. It was the first cruise for the 2 couples with us, and they had heard from us how wonderful it is. The ship looked dated, and it seems like they set it up for financial reasons rather than to accommodate guests. All roads led directly to money spending areas. I also didn't like the tiny theater, or

Cabin / Stateroom

There was an unopened condom on our stool when we got into our cabin...gross. We were walked in on twice, and the two other couples with us had the same thing happen. Weird.

Ship tip

I wasn't impressed with this "new" ship. I've been on the Getaway and loved it, and I have been on older ships that were much more beautiful than this one.

I love to cruise on different ships and different cruise lines.  We found that we liked HAL the best but we still enjoy going on other lines too.  Celebrity is another favorite.

Sorry to hear that this one did not work out for you. Sounds like your previous experience on the smaller ships was more enjoyably. Might want to stick to them. Many including myself prefer the smaller (2400 - 2600 passenger) ships.

Thank you for leaving your review. It is unfortunate that you had so many problems. I definitely recommend trying other cruise lines. We started with NCL but soon jumped over to Carnival, then Royal Caribbean, then Princess and Celebrity. We even tried one cruise on HAL. After 18 yrs of cruises, we prefer Princess and look to them for the type of experience we desire.

Happy sails, which ever line you decide to try next.

Funny, if we like a curtain cruise line we are critical on everything little thing on a different line.  One has to experience all the different cruise lines and what they have to offer, then stick with one that best suits our wants and needs.  We still have to venture out to know what is right, no matter how much you like a particular cruise line.  If one cruise line can get it all right, boy o' boy that would be the day.
