Review summary

This was my first cruise on a large ship, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to see that embarkation & debarkation went very smoothly. It only took about 15 minutes to check in. The only time the line was a little bit long was getting back on in Nassau. The buffet was arranged in a rectangular pattern with different stations so the lines were never that long. The food for the most part was delicious. We had great service in all three main dining rooms. The ship was kept very clean. They had the "washy washy" people that would spray hand sanitizer on you before they would let anyone in the buffet area. The entertainment was wonderful. I especially liked the Brat Pack 80's show.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good in both the buffet area & the three main dining rooms. If you don't want to listen to music during dinner, don't go to the Manhatten Room. Savor & Taste were normal dining rooms.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
They had a ropes course that looked like a lot of fun but it was only open in port because of the winds so I never got a chance to try it. I did love watching the Sunday Night & Monday Night games on the big screen.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I really liked the Brat Pack 80's show. It brought some memories from those days. The Frankie Valle & Cotton Club shows were nice too. They had three comedians on board & I thought two out of three were really good. The other one was so-so.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We didn't have a any kids with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every crew member we encountered was very friendly & courteous. Niko, our waitress in Savor arranged for us to get cakes for my birthday & my parents' anniversary and in general made those two events special.

Ship Quality

The ship was very easy to get around. They only have two sets of elevators but the only time the wait was long was when the main theatre let out. The ship was very clean. The crew was constantly cleaning. I liked the fact that they had the "washy washy" people that would spray hand sanitizer on you before they let you in the buffet. One guy even turned into a song & dance. It was an entertaining way to get your day started.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a little bit smaller than the Carnival ships I have been on, but not enough to feel crowded. I love going out on the balcony when we came into the different port. Our cabin steward kept everything very clean. I liked the fact that you had a switch to turn on the Do Not Disturb light outside the cabin instead of having to hang a sign outside. It would show a red light to the cabin steward. If you wanted your room clean you flip another switch & it would show a green light to the cabin steward.

Ship tip

Use the interactive TV in your cabin to make reservations for the shows, especially the comedy shows. The stand-by line is very long & the comedy club is small so you might not get in. You can make some reservations for the main theatre online starting 90 days before your cruise.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We just got on & off the ship there.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We went to Coral World which is like a small aquarium. They had several displays featuring local marine animals. The highlight was the underwater observation area where you could see the coral reefs & fish.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
We took the Tortola by Land & Sea Tour. The bus ride was very scenic but also a little scary. The roads were very steep, narrow & curvy. Not much room between the bus & oncoming traffic. He actually had to go around two cows that were in the road. I loved the boat part of the tour. They took us past several of the islands nearby & gave us a brief history of each one. They also had complimentary rum punches.

Nassau, Bahamas

We've been to Nassau so many times so we just walked around the downtown shopping area & straw market. The vendors in the straw market can be a bit pushy but it's still a nice thing to see.
