Review summary

We had a great time on the Norwegian Escape. The ship is absolutely amazing, along with the staff, food and ports. We especially appreciate Maureen, our port shopping guide, always friendly and informative. Christian our room steward remembered our names the first day and help create a wonderful vacation. The photography group took some amazing photos and were always working to capture our vacation. My sons practically lived in Entourage, the teen club. The cruise directing staff was always busy and there was way to much to choose from to get it all in. Our biggest complaint was the spa, we scheduled two massages when we boarded and from there it seemed that we were sold and sold, charging us for treatments we had not received and spending more time selling us overpriced products than helping us relax. After a 50 minute massage we were used car salesman sold for 30 minutes. We will take the cruise again, but avoid the spa.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our dinner at the Japanese restaurant was incredible and our chef so entertaining.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My sons loved Entourage and we enjoyed the dancing and themed nights.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were amazing, especially Scotty Cavanaugh gold medal juggler and the Brat Pack which will touch your heart if you remember the 80's. The Cotton Club show was also fantastic and even held our teenage sons attention. The clubs and themed nights wre very loud, but fun.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Maureen is the ticket if you want to shop in port. I highly recommend attending her seminars for discounts and bargains.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was immaculate and we still sing washy, washy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was large and roomy for a cruise ship and Christian our steward was fantastic

Ship tip

Bring your wallet drinks are expensive and even though dinning room is included there is a $13.50 per person charge at every meal. The service was worth it. STAY AWAY FROM THE SPA!!!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Don't stay at the best Western and make arrangements for Transportation to the ship. The hotel gave free shuttle service to the airport was $10/pp to the ship. When we returned we used MAShuttles and it was $30.00 for all of us and we had more room in the van.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
St. Maarten was clean and lovely, shopping was good. We had purchased an excursion on the Marabella Catamaran and would do it again. The crew was great and snorkeling and beach were paradise.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
For an American St. Thomas was wonderful. Most of the islanders we met were from Wisconsin and the Midwest. We did not have good weather, so we didn't make it to the beach. Shop here as you get twice as much duty free and the have some great rum Bones and Jumbie" are our favorite.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
Tortola was beautiful and clean, but very expensive and they would not bargain like they did in other ports. The people were warm and friendly, but don't shop in this port, go to the beach.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Shopping in the Bahamas is always great and my sons love to bargain at the straw market. We went to Paradise Beach for the afternoon and it was dirty and full of garbage. They were running scams on the beach chairs and you need to watch yourself. The tourist on the beach helped us out and are watching each others backs. If you go stay away from the resort area of the RIU and Atlantis, when you get to the beach go to the right and get out of the crowd. You will be hounded until you get far enough down the beach. Don't rent the lounge chairs!!

I'm glad you had a great time. Thanks for mentioning the spa issue, we were thinking of buying the spa suite package but I don't want anyone bothering us trying to sell something we don't want.
