Review summary

It was going to be my 50th birthday I couldn't decide what to do, so decided to book a cruise a week before it Departed. I should have taking the warning right from the start with the travel agent. We chose this cruise ship because it was brand new and it had all kinds of free things that came with the cruise. Because we were booking so late we got nothing free. That's what the travel agent let us know.

Bummmer...

Travel agent booked us sent us the email to register online , I forgot to tell us that we couldn't do anything online because it was too late. Finally called Norwegian for them to tell us that we can't do anything until the day of the cruise ship. Never got a receipt or a breakdown of what I was paying for. Had to wait till we got on the cruise ship. Went to cruise ship early and they gave us a run-around because we didn't know where we were supposed to enter the cruise ship at because we had no information. They still couldn't give us a receipt because they said we should have already had it. Travel agent overcharged us. We were bound determined to make this a great trip and we did. Just wish we would have had a friendlier person taking care of our room and more personable. I just really feel like everything should be included still in the cruise you shouldn't have to pay extra for food.

Food and Dining

I don't feel that I should need to pay extra for food. Room service should still be included on a cruise .

Service and Staff

Staff was very friendly I was just disappointed in our cabin service. I think that are staff had too many rooms to do because we would put the sign up to have the room made up and we would come back 3 hours later and it would be done. It was my 50th birthday and all I got was a cupcake that was made with all of us on the ship. 2 days after my birthday he put sign and balloons... major disappointment he didn't have much of Personality didn't really communicate with us much.

Curious about two things: what what kind of TA did you use (full-service, "cruise specialist," online service such as Expedia)...and where did you get the idea that ALL of the food is free or SHOULD be? Not all cruisers fork over bucks for for-fee meals, just like the people who never set foot in the MDR. I've shared a bartender with people who ONLY eat at the buffet and pizzeria.  Personally, I refuse to stand in line for food, no buffets for me. As for last-minute bookings, I've NEVER booked a cruise more than six weeks in advance.

Not the fault of NCL Try being a little more organized next time :)

We booked through BJ's travel and we knew what we paid for up front and while talking to the agent we received an email of the breakdown and the cost and we knew what stateroom we were getting because she asked us where we would like to be and then told us what was available and let us choose. We were on the website and looking at the deck plans and room numbers and made our choice. We did not hang up until everything was confirmed. Friends of ours booked through a different travel agent and did not get half of what we received. Didn't know what stateroom they had. I am so glad when we called the same travel agent they were too busy to talk to us and said they would call back. They never did so the next day we called BJ'S club and booked through them. Very helpful especially since we had never been on a cruise before.

I agree. That was the fault of the travel agent. Wasn't very helpful. We are leaving on Saturday. Hope we have a hood experience!

You booked late through a TA. It IS the TA you should have a problem with. No perks is on you for booking late! Plenty of free dining options on board. TA overcharged You , not NCL! SMH

Been on both Carnival and Norwegian and never go on Carnival again plus we always book through the cruise lines....

Only the specialty dining is extra but it is on all of them ..I've went norwegian an carnival I'd choose norwegian any day they have always worked with us an never had any problems carnival wouldn't change a date without wanting to charge 100.00 an it was a yr an 1/2 in advance an we had just booked ...after that one is done I'll never deal with them again ...

Next time go carnival and book directly with them. I bet you won't get any run around.
