Review summary

Although ship is new, the staff and entertainment leave much to be desired on this trip.  Staff was not friendly at all.  The world soccer cup was on and all the ship would allow us to watch was tennis.  Unless you where 55 and older, their was no point in going to a show, even if you could get in based on reservation only policy, there was no point in going as the music was from the 1930 - 1980s.  Most nights we went to bed bored and by 900.  Food package meant that we could only eat the same 6 things off the standard dinning package without being charged as much as 25.00 per item, and the staff adds a 5.00 tip on top of that to bring it to the table.  Will not recommend this cruise, or NWC line.

This is super un-accurate. If your negative, how do expect staff to respond with a smile. Shame on you. who's with me?

We just got off yesterday and had an AMAZING time. Not once did we encounter a rude or unfriendly staff member. As for the shows there was a huge range of music and you would have known that if you did any research prior to getting on the ship. Food in all locations was great and everyone went out of their way to make sure we were happy!!

I did the trans Atlantic Oct 15 with that same crew in cold weather and high seas. Would not trade one overcast cold windy day for anything. And as for the crew; they bust a gut, every one of them, every day. Witness the unlucky one who, three in the morning , lost his footing on an internal staircase due to the 30ft swells (they are not allowed to use the staircases you use, lest they sully your experience ) and broke enough key body parts he had to be air evac'ed the next morning. You think they sit up nights thinking of ways to spoil your experience? Most of them simply worry about paying the bills with the lousy pay most of them receive. Think OSHA protects them, and a labor negotiation gets them a 15% raise every year? Take a look at the Flag of registry and ask yourself why a US based Corp like NCL would choose the register their ships in some banana Republic. For the pretty flag? Try lax or non existent employee protections. Like minimum wages or maximum weekly hours. Does not exist. So the next time you get jacked up because your third creme brulee doesn't have a nicely browned crust, ask your self if that $5 SHARED tip is really such a heart breaker for you.

My husband and I were on Escape in October. Frequent cruisers and I agree with DawnS. Beautiful ship, clean, and professional. But Friendly or Awe inspiring- No. Entertainment is of excellent quality, but I agree... Boring. And I'm 52. I actually fell asleep during the show drinking coffee! Drink package- definitely worth it! But honestly, RCs Freedom of the Seas is our #1!! Best ship, food ever!

By the way it's NCL! I'm in that age bracket and I don't go to bed at 9 when cruising!

Was the ice cream too cold also? So what if you couldn't do exactly what you wanted to, you went to have a good time and you allowed yourself to be miserable.
