Review summary

This ships layout was not very appealing and the fact that there were 4000 passengers was a turn off. The list of activities on our day at sea were awful. The staff was good in some areas and just so-so in others. The spa was good till at the end of your massage they try to sell products which was a total turn off. I would not recommend this ship to family and friends.

And yet you gave it 4 stars out of 5?

4000+ passengers is pretty standard for the new Mega ship on all lines, NCL, RCL, MSC, Carnival etc. The trick is to find the parts of the ship which is not crowded. For example if you go to buffet breakfast at 8-9 it’s gonna be busy. Don’t understand the ‘turn off’ at Spa, ‘No Thank you’ it’s done.

There are ships with much fewer passengers - we tend to like those better - but the ships are smaller, too. Some areas can still seem crowded at some times of the day. Also, it's sometimes harder to find the cruise you want unless you can be flexible on cruise dates. We liked the Epic, but it is a little different. Not sure what to say about the list of sea day activities. Sea days are our favorites and we've always found something, especially on bigger ships like the Epic or Breakaway class ships. That's personal preference, I suppose. I agree with ghiagal on the up-sells. Just plan on it coming, plan on saying "No, thank you. Not interested." And by all means don't let that ruin your experience. Glad you still had a "4 Star" rated cruise.

If cruising again I’d do research before booking more as more ships are now 5-6k passengers. Write in your spa forms at entry you’re not buying any products- works every time. And that upset is on every cruise line after a spa service.
