Review summary

The ship is the star of the show...absolutely beautiful!! However, NCL's food quality has changed dramatically over the years and not for the better. I thought that maybe it was on a ship by ship basis and that is clearly not the case. Apparently the only way to get decent food is to pay extra for it. I'm an old school cruiser from the 90's before the freestyle days when there was assigned dinner times, breakfast and lunch buffets on the pool deck and special midnight buffets every night. All of this included in the price of your cruise. Needless to say, on top of being disappointed with the food, I'm a little insulted by the constant nickel and diming going on as soon as you board the ship. I expect to be charged for shore excursions but after what you pay just to board this ship I resent being charged a fee to enter one of the bars on the ship (the ice bar) or having to pay extra for a dinner show. This service is excellent especially the cabin stewards who always go above and beyond. All in all it was a great cruise and I had a blast but bank accounts beware of being "Norwegianed"

With all due respect, it sounds like NCL isn't the line for you.

I love your review...the midnight buffet! oh the memories. sitting with the same coupes at every meal until it was sad to say goodbye. I miss it, not sure I can stay up if they offered a midnight buffet, but I could in the 90s. love the "norweigand"

Prebook as much as you can. The ship holds 4000+ people. Just getting an elevator is a win, lol. Make the most of it.

We're going in December and I'm so thankful for this app and other online reviews so that I am aware ahead of time about the extra charges. My hope is to take advantage of the complimentary options and just ignore the other options and try to enjoy my cruise like when we went on Carnival years ago!

I agree that you feel the industry shift for us who have cruised pre-upcharge.
