Review summary
So, my favorite part of the NCL EPIC was the variety of dining options and the amazing spa area! There were many dining options and most of them were complimentary. I particularly appreciated that they offered a true 24HR restaurant! You could sit down and place your order for great tasting food at 3am, if you so desired! The buffet was another surprise! It offered the largest selection of "different" food choices that I've ever seen on a cruise ship. On top of that, the food was delicious!
The Mandara Spa: So, the spa was immaculate and very user friendly! They offered a sauna, steam room, showers, lockers, toilets, vanity, and sitting area in the locker rooms. In the co-ed or unisex area of the spa, they offered an amazing spa therapy pool, lounge area, Relaxation room, 2 Saunas, Steam room, heated tile loungers, and an outside deck with loungers viewing a beautiful wake in the back of the ship. The one downside of the spa is that they charge a steep price for the the entrance fee! On our 4-night cruise, they charged $179 per person to access this area. I thought that was ridiculous! However, I was able to purchase a day pass on the 2 days we were in Port. The day pass was $39 per person.
The entertainment was amazing! I enjoyed all of it, but I did miss having a live band/orchestra throughout the performances.
We had a balcony cabin on a corner with a nice large balcony. The configuration of the cabin was very odd, though. The shower was behind a frosted glass sliding door on one side of the door entering the cabin. The toilet is behind another frosted glass door on the other side of door entering the cabin. There is a tiny sink (about the size of an airplane sink) on the vanity inside the room.Very strange! We also requested the beds be separated, but there was literally about 1 inch between the beds...no exaggeration!
We loved the Ultimate Beverage Package and the Ultimate Dining Package! I highly recommend them! You won't regret it!
I would definitely go on this ship again! I will say that I found this ship to be extremely dark! Nearly all activities are in the center of the ship without windows. Give this ship a chance and enjoy yourself! I loved the late night Glow Party, too!
