Not worth the time taken, not to mention the money spent.

Review summary

Norwegian definitely doesn’t suit my travel needs. Even Carnival beat them (they talked frequently about how they were better than Carnival).

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Our Covid test time was at 9:30 and went quickly. It was very easy, then we sat, and sat. Then they came and moved us to another room, we sat for about 2 hours. There was absolutely NO social distancing. We were crammed into the room. Then they walked the original people past all the new people to board the ship. If someone had Covid (we were all tested) we all got Covid. There was no separation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
We waited 51 minutes for an entree the second day. 20+ minutes to get a drink was the norm not the exception. The Manhattan was closed for both breakfast and lunch. Taste was also closed (on Tuesday) due to construction. The only included dining was The observation (for snacks), the buffet, the Local and Savor. Savor was open 12-1:30 for lunch. The Local was crazy loud because it overlooked the only place entertainment occurred during the day. The Local (bar food) however, seemed to be the ONLY restaurant that had it together. The service was really good there. The buffet was just that, you were on your own. They did not ever serve drinks or bring silverware. It was a DIY buffet. You served yourself. Tables were cleared quickly, and with 50% capacity- you never had to wait for a table. The observation was always packed, they had limited choices and were directly above the buffet. Food was not available at very many points throughout this large ship. The burgers and pizza were in the buffet area. There was no place to just get a cookie or a sandwich. There was no food near the atrium (this is where ALL activities were hosted).

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
All activities were held in the atrium. The atrium was way too small to host everything. If they had had more activities, people would not have just camped in the atrium. It was very much like the pool deck on caribbean cruises. Papers instead of towels in every chair. The staff would set up folding chairs and still tons of people would be standing. So, there wasn’t much entertainment. The little they did do was good though. There however was no consistency.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The Beatles were great. Unfortunately that was all there was. The choir of man and kinky books was cancelled. There was no singers/dancers so no welcome aboard show. The entertainment was 1. The Beatles (excellent) 2. The comedians (fairly average, there were 2 of them) 3. A magician (card tricks, like I saw when my kids were little) That’s it.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
They seemed to desire to help. They seemed to be happy to be back on the ship. They IMO just had 0 power and not enough help. We didn’t meet our housekeeper until we complained that no one was making up our room (in the afternoon of the second day). I already talked about the service in the dining rooms.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was beautiful! It was not clean. There were fingerprints all over the elevator buttons. Frequently mask and food were on the elevator floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The cabin was beautiful. It was terribly small though. I’m 5’6 and sometimes I lay on my stomach. I tend to lay just below the pillow to do this. My feet hung off the bed. It was next to impossible to get into the closet. The couch met up with the doors, so it was hard to get to your hanging clothes. The bathroom was designed just fine however, it was terribly cold. You could not step out of the shower to dry off. The mirror never fogged up. This would be great IF the bathroom was large enough to hold more than one person.

There were very long lines. No social distancing. We didn’t have to go through customs though. That was nice, but we also only went to US ports.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

I’m sorry about your experience but I have to genuinely disagree with your review. I was on the first cruise back for Norwegian onboard this ship, and I had a completely different experience then you’ve expressed here.

If Norwegian is so bad why do you have another cruise booked with them?

Sorry your cruise experience was not so good.

Why???? What was wrong??

Glad you at least enjoyed the ports. Alaska is primarily about the scenery and ports, not the ship activities / amenities.

did you not have a very talented singer on your ship named alexa who sang in Sugar Cane's or the fun piano guy in The District brew house?
