Review summary

What was most disappointing was that when I signed up, the cruise was described as having only one tender port. In fact 5 of the 9 ports utilized tender boats. A cruise that was supposed to have only one sea day, in fact had four. This was upsetting to my wife who hates sea days and can’t wait to get off the ship in port.

Ship tip

Since the ship carries its own tenders, Dawn relies on tender boats instead of piers. This seems to be a cost saving strategy to avoid paying port fees. We missed three ports due to rough seas. Many angry passengers when the boat failed to make port in DUBLIN.

Ports of call

Copenhagen, Denmark

Interesting cities with a lot to do

NEWHAVEN HARBOUR (EDINBURGH), SCOTLAND

King was there for his Scottish coronation so there was a lot of security while we were in port, making it difficult to get around.

Invergordon (Inverness & Loch Ness), Scotland

4 out of 5
Small town, not many attractions, bit we had a nice excursion to Dunrobin Castle.

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland

3 out of 5
Small port without a lot of attractions. Toured the south end of the island. Beautiful scenery, but not much else.

Stornoway, Isle Of Lewis, Hebrides

Never got off the boat. Deserves zero stars.

Dun Laoghaire (Dublin), Ireland

We got into port on a Sunday with little to do.

Falmouth, Cornwall, England

Port canceled by Norwegian. Never got off the boat. Deserves zero stars.

Portland (Weymouth), England, UK

Southampton (London), England

opted for the "panoramic tour" to London Heathrow, but missed many of the sights due to heavy traffic. The tour operator did let us off in central London per our request.

Disembarkation

Got to the gangway and wasn’t allowed off the ship due to a billing discrepancy. Turns out it was for a $50 credit that appeared after we closed out account the night before. Almost missed our excursion to London.
