Norwegian Dawn

7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 12, 2017

Ship: Norwegian Dawn

Cabin type: Suite

Cabin number: 12030

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Review summary

Due to many cancellation, Norwegian offered deeply discounted prices to the locals in the embarkation port. The added way too many children and non-English speakers which made this cruise a bit uncomfortable. We cruise this time of year not to have too many kids and the ones on ship were out of control.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
We were suite guests and had trouble being recognized as such. Quite disorganized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dining rooms very loud. Buffet out of control. Specialty restaurants overpriced unless on a package.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Good shows and activities yet theater had very uncomfortable seating

Casino

2 out of 5

Need a non-smoking section in the casino

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Love Deal or no Deal - good alternative to Bingo!

Children's Programs

Did not have kids with us

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Concierge seemed new. Had to complain to get Champaign bucket emptied and removed after 3 days.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Hangers do not fit all closets in suites, difficult to get from one end of the ship to the other end, need adult section pool or hot tub area.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Hangers don't fit in all closets, floor to ceiling windows were not clean, could hear running noise above us.

Ship tip

I would not choose Dawn again. Too many better ships.

We heard about a really horrible cruise from San Juan that departed Nov. 12th. Heard it was FEMA, 473 kids, hazmat had to clean the pool because of poop diapers.

Wow...too many kids and non-English speakers??? Should there be a cap on the amount of children and non English speakers on a ship?? How much of a discount did the locals get?? I'm happy there were locals because they have been through a lot the past few months due to the hurricane. They deserve a vacation too!
