Norwegian Breakaway April 2nd to Bahamas by rcbennett80

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Meals in main dining were good, Paid for meal in the Hibachi place was very good, Room Steward was awesome. Had a Mini spa suite and recommend it for the spa access. The trip into Coco Beach needs more people giving directions once you get to the transportation area, and once we got off the bus the directions for the surf lessons was not so good. Shows were good and the bar staff was better, I recommend the drink package. Getting off in NY was slow but it appears the customs people may have been at fault not NCL.

Terrible Food & Ship! by suzyflc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I am an active cruiser and this was my first time I cruised with NCL. I was not impressed by the staff, service, food, entertainment or ship!

If you want left-overs, same music, no toilet paper, rude staff and cheap liquour than this is the cruise for you!.

Norwegian Breakaway by Cruiser81822834

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The drink package was new to us, and we really enjoyed it....but not to extremes!!! Specialty dining venues were exceptional as,was the servers. We really enjoyed the meal and show in Teppanyaki. Having booked meal times before the cruise started eliminated any wait for table every night if the cruise  which was very nice.

Very disappointed by Dianecobb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

didn't have a favorite part. This cruise ship is way too crowded!! Too many children and no one follows the rules!! The only place to go for any quietness is your room. There were children sleeping in the h2o bar area chairs when it was supposed to be an adult evening. Children were also in the casino sitting next to there parents while there was smoking also up by the pool in the smoking room , parents had children in there with them. Shows were not that great and there wasn't much of them to offer. Too much of the same foods. We went on the Dawn two years ago and loved it. The Dawn is by far a better cruise ship!!! We will never go on the breakaway again.Angry

The Haven!!!!!  Oh, the Haven, it was fabulous. The only thing we did't like was the Casino was smoking.  other than that, the food, service and boat itself were completely awesome.

NCL Breakaway by lgarry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great time!  Favorite part of the cruise was the martini bar!! LOL say hello to Edna and Armond!

I suggest you make your reservation early to get a tender off the ship to the private island.  We didn't and was not able to get off the ship until 12:00.  It's quite a process.  Much better when we got off at Nassau!

The art auction is very interesting, but could run up to 2 hours.  I won a raffle for a free print, cost $35 to ship.  I guess nothing is really free.

Very nice ship, very friendly staff and we met a lot of fun people.

(visit Senor Frogs!)

First Cruise by CLHouse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was the first cruise that I have been on. It was an amazing experience. The specialty dining package and the beverage package are a must for anyone going on a cruise. The weather was perfect. The staff on board the Norwegian Breakaway were amazing. They cater to your every needs, they make you feel at home. There is always something new to do every single day so that you do not have to do the same thing twice. I already am looking to plan my next cruise. Thank you to Norwegian Cruise Line for an amazing experience.

Norwegian Breakaway to Bahamas by ksruffino1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall we enjoyed it.  The entertainment was outstanding and the food was very good.  met a lot of great people.  I found the crew staff to be either great/really friendly or not friendly at all - no in-between.  And that was a little surprising.  The folks at the front desks at the restaurants could use some personality and be a bit more outgoing with guests.

Good cruise! by bstuchal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Favorite part was the food and their private island.  What needs improvement is their evening entertainment.  Rock of Ages was good but that's all that I really enjoyed.  I would recommend this cruise!

Absolutely perfect! by santonio09

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My husband and I just got back from this cruise as our honeymoon and we were happy with absolutely everything about this trip! The ship was massive and had everything you could wish for as far as restaurants, bars, pools, things to do, and outstanding staff members. Every single worker that we met on this cruise went above and beyond and were  incredibly friendly and helpful. The destinations were easy to access and everything ran very smoothly. All ports were amazing especially Great Stirrup Cau. We will definitely be cruising with Norwegian again soon.

Positives and Negatives by Jimboinpa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Positives- Service was very good, rooms were accommodating, food was good, Bahamas stops were very good, drinks were very good.

Negatives - People hopping in line at buffets, people rushing into elevators before people could even get out, nothing on TV's in staterooms especially if you have kids, need more kids channels to occupy them on bad weather days, mornings and evenings.

NCL treats cruisers as Family!! by nydoflynn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My most favorite part of the NCL cruise was everything!!  The entertainment, especially my NCL cruise family Arvin & Emily sing beautiful love songs as well as other tributes.  I have never been on a cruise where both the Cruise Director Dan Dan and Assistant Director Luz who also sung wonderful songs.  The entire staff, the bar staff especially Lima, Domingo and Mary Joy and housekeeping staft who cared for my cabin.  NCL is terrific, my ocean family!!Big Smile

Uncomfortable seating by kremmerich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The entertainment was very good. The food was okay at best. It was cold in New York at the end of March. Cold first sea day and last sea day. You have to pay for room service on this ship. Get to all shows early because the seating is limited.

review by michelleesposit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was clean, the pool was way to small and not in the sun.  Their should be two kids pools for all of the children or someone watching it.. beside the parents.  The charges for additional things were ridiculous and not enough chairs when you get to the private island.  the service at the restaurants was slow.

Very Relaxing vacation!!! by Claudiazp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This cruise was great! My family loved, it was relaxing and fun. My 2 kids (age 9 and 11) had a blast. There is so much for them to do and while my husband and I enjoyed the shows the kids were at Splash Academy. The food and service provided were outstanding. They have enough activities to entertain anyone. Highly recommend.

Bahamas spring break 2017 by toddtitus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Great Stirrup Cay was great.  Staff were excellent.   Suggest going on the boat cruise in the Bahamas to go snorkeling on the island just east of paradise island. Food was great as well.

Entertainment on the ship was very good. Especially Arvin and Emily. I won some money in casino, that was a plus. Lots of positive changes on Great Stirrup Cay. I will most definitely recommended Norwegian to my friends.

Cruise on Breakaway by wicket2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The staff was friendly for the most part. Nice ship lots for the adults on board.

Slow service in O'Sheen's Irish Bar. Took us a long time to get waited on. Food was good but not worth the wait. I went to breakfast there and they were much faster.

Excellent service and Very clean by basebask21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The staff went out of there way to make sure we had great service. The bartenders remembered our names and what we drink. We always gave a $1 tip when ordering a drink. The casino staff was great and very entertaining. When the casino got full there was a lot of smoke which we didn't like. Our room steward clean the room twice a day and left us notes on our bathroom mirror about fun activities that we should checkout.

As for the destinations:

Port Canaveral- we stayed on the boat and got a discount at the spa for a couples massage. The Spa hounds you to upgrade your massage and to buy over priced products.

Great Stirrup Cay- this private island was gorgeous. You eat for free on the island and if you have the drink package then drinks are free as well. We rented floating matts for the ocean and it was amazing. We saw a sea turtle and sting ray in the water as well as many fish.

Nassau, Bahamas- Amazing! We did the shopping in the morning and then did a snorkeling excursion with Island time charters. I recommend not booking an excursion with Norwegian because they are more expensive and they cram a bunch of people on the excursion. It was just me, my wife and our Captain Carlos, who brought us where we wanted to go. We determined our excursion. We told him we wanted to see Atlantis so he brought us up close with the boat. Then we told him we wanted to snorkel away from the crowds. He brought us to a sunken ship with nobody around. Priceless. And it was only $55 a person.

Dining in the Restaurants were great. The buffet food wasn't good.
