Review summary

didn't have a favorite part. This cruise ship is way too crowded!! Too many children and no one follows the rules!! The only place to go for any quietness is your room. There were children sleeping in the h2o bar area chairs when it was supposed to be an adult evening. Children were also in the casino sitting next to there parents while there was smoking also up by the pool in the smoking room , parents had children in there with them. Shows were not that great and there wasn't much of them to offer. Too much of the same foods. We went on the Dawn two years ago and loved it. The Dawn is by far a better cruise ship!!! We will never go on the breakaway again.

This ship is loud and crowded.  The OP is correct that the only place you'll find quite and a place to sit is in your room.  If you don't notice that it is incredibly noisy, it's because you're part of the racket, which is fine if that is the type of cruise you are looking for.    But if you are looking for quiet, don't take this ship.

Not trying to step on any toes but I find esm54687 provide very knowledgeable information about cruising. I don't find that information to showing any partiality toward the BA. I have to agree with both points of view... parents should be the first line of discipline. but the crew must still step up and enforce rules, especially when children are in adult only areas or acting in a dangerous or particularly loud manner. I love kids, but I'm older and have mobility issues and can't afford any falls and kids running around not paying attention are a hazard to me.

sherried: where did I defend NCL or Breakaway? If by implying that the first line of enforcement for any rule should be a parent's job and not a school system, neighbor, cruise line.... or that exposing a child to a known cause of cancer and other breathing disorders via second hand smoke is somehow a pool attendants job to protect that child from a selfish ignorant parent.... . I can see why you would think I was defending the Breakaway.

adults only spice h2o parents should have enough consideration for people who don't want kids around

NCL is family friendly that's why we love it. If you don't like kids go on celebrity cruise for old people

it was not about bad parenting solely esm, the ship employees should enforce the rules even if the parents do not. I experienced the same thing 2 years ago and i completely agree. when you're cruising without your children and want to enjoy the "adults only" parts of the ship, there should be no children! I see you get very defensive when someone criticizes the breakaway but it's not personal. :)

love the breakaway

Timing your vacation to avoid mass number of kiddies is key. We love the Dawn as well, but if you cruise during summer it is loaded with kids and no rules are followed on that ship either. Pool was over taken by kids running and jumping.

Love that 90% of your review was about bad parenting......

If you don't like "too many children" then avoid traveling over spring break.

Been there before where rules aren't followed on several cruise lines. It is frustrating!
