Kids enjoyed the Breakaway. Mom and Dad enjoyed the drinks. Great vacation and breakaway from normal day to day life.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was acceptable. We arrived at the port early and waited outside until it was time., We were then led into the building. Check in was quick and easy. We then began the waiting game until it was time to board the ship. There was a delay in boarding, but we were onboard before noon.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had two speciality dinings, LaCucina and Moderno. Food was excellent at both. Service was lacking at Moderno, but the service was exceptional at LaCucina. We went to Taste main dining room, Savor was not open. Service was great, food was great. Buffet was good. I think the organization of the lines could have been better. They would open and close sections based on the time of day. O’Shehanns was just ok. They have a smaller menu now compared to last year. Shanghai’s noodle bar was really good , but really hard to get into. We tried 4 times and each time had an over hour wait.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There are 5 slides on the ship. Two are the free- fall slides and you have to be at least 99 pounds to ride it. They will not let you ride if you are even one pound under. One of the slides was broken, but there were not many kids wanting to ride it so it wasn’t a big deal. The other 3 slides were fun for my kids. My only complaint is the main pool and hot tub is Adult only. Signs all around it. The pool on the kid side is salt water, main pool is fresh water. There are several areas for Adults only, a small area for kids. The ropes course was fun for my kids, but it was only open like twice the whole cruise.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The main shows were boring and dull. The Theater was small for a large ship, and seats were small. SIX was just a feminist rant about who was the most important wife and Who had the worst life. There were a few musicians we enjoyed listening to- Jakob and Angel were entertaining. The music by the pool Was entertaining. The cruise director-JC was dull and made too many stupid jokes. Luckily we didn’t see him much.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
I don’t know what they did in Splash Academy, by my 11 year old looked forward to going every day. He has never been interested in the kids club on the cruise before. We reluctantly signed him up, he loved it.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service was off. I could tell they were short staffed. I know they are increasing the guests from COVID, and it was rough this week. I think we were at 65% and they struggled to keep up. Our room steward was the worst we have ever had and did less than the bare minimum. Specialty dining wait staff was bare. Main dining staff was on point.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The design of ship was weird. Most activities are in Atrium. The atrium is where all the other offices are. It made that area always congested. You have to walk through the smoky casino to get to parts of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We loved the location of our cabin and how easy it was to get to most places. We loved the balcony and did not think it was noisy. Our only complaint was mechanical issues. Several times the toilets wouldn’t flush (ship wide) and the shower drained slow.

Ship tip

Enjoy the sofas on the waterfront on the 8th floor. There may be some on other floors, but it was peaceful to just sit there and enjoy the cruise.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

The port is Teminal B. Parking can be confusing. The port is nice and no complaints.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

We went to Amber Cove. When you go to the port, go to the right and there is a wonderful pool and water area that is free. There is a restaurant at the pool that serves expensive food and drinks but you are getting the pool for free. It’s cheaper than an excursion.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

4 out of 5
We enjoyed our time here. It is a tendered port which can be a pain. There was another ship there, that arrived 2 hours before us. By the time we got to island some of them had already started heading back so we had no problem finding a lounger. They had people coming around to take drink orders. It was a nice beach day.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
We didn’t even get off the ship. We heard a lot of the shops were closed. The area looked run down, we saw people waiting a long time outside just to get to the port. Next time we may book an excursion so we can see something.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

We got off ship, shops look nice. Only problem is stores will not let you in without a mask on. We didn’t have a mask, we got back in the ship.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It took us 25 minutes from leaving our room To leaving ship as a self check out. They had us moving through the ship so everyone stayed in an organized line.
