Review summary

We are glad we did this itinerary. We will never a mega ship again. It is double the amount of passengers with the same amenities. We didn't realize the $280 we paid for internet only allowed us one device. There is not streaming. Movies in your room are $9.99 and there is one movie channel that is free. You can't bring a can of pop aboard otherwise they can't sell you one for $3.45. You can't bring water on otherwise they can't sell you some for $48 a case (including the self service mandatory tip). Some of our excursions were cancelled because of the rough sea. We paid for them the day we booked them (a month before we got on the ship) but they will not credit your card back. The only option is for them to mail a check. After waiting almost 3 weeks and the check hadn't even been cut I called Cruise's Only to see if they could help get our $679 because Norwegian will not expedite or credit our card back. called and we were told in a few more days they would credit our card. This is our 4 cruise with Norwegian and they have become very transparently greedy. They charge for some of the shows now and ice bar is a giant scam, don't fall for it!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Lines were so long they went from one end of the ship to the other and zig zagged in-between, once we got to our luggage it had been over an hour. The employees weren't paying attention to what was happening so lines were waiting for no reason and lines were converging with people cutting and mad.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food is fine, not like other ships where there are so many choices that you end up over eating. My favorite is the desserts and it was easy to choose one because the choices were fairly basic and not a lot to choose from. This is not a ship that has food that looks so decadent it is really art. The decor and carvings were wonderful and the service can't be beat.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Very limited activities compared to other ships with many having a cost. The fitness center is not attended to by employees to help you learn the equipment and any classes available have costs. It is VERY small because they have a giant spa where us fitness folks normally enjoy working out. The equipment is newer and nice. DON'T fall for the overpriced ($47) ice bar!! So maddening that it is such a rip off. It is a freezer like in a grocery store that has one seat to take photos. You cannot peek before you pay because you would never pay to go in. They tell you that the ice carvings will melt if they o[en the door but it is a block of ice formed around a statue and there are 2. SUPER lame.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn't attend the shows that were over $50, the ones that we did attend were excellent. This is the first cruise that we have done that charged for entertainment.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service with the exception of the ice bar was top tier. The employees explaining the ice bar were awful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship has the same amount of pools etc. as a ship that holds half as many people but the area is seems smaller. There is a movie screen outside at the back of the ship but they only play a couple of movies, and some very old ones. It's NOT like other ships where they play music videos while you lay in the sun.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Everything about the cabin is great except the usual. There are 2 plug-ins for the entire space (nothing in the bathroom and nothing by the bed) and no clock except a very tiny digital read out on the phone that is not lit up.

Ship tip

Book excursions before you leave and head for the back of ship on the 16th floor for laying in the sun with very few people.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Lots to do here! Super fun.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Interesting but lots of crime and very dirty.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We hired a driver from a private company that took us to several interesting beautiful places.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We hired a private taxi company to take us all over the island for about $25 each.

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
Scam alert. The ship owns this island. It is not a representation of Belize and it's culture. It is very pretty with many activities that all have a charge. Super disappointing.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We went to the ruins on our own for with a private tour service that took us to town and waited for us after we were done. We paid $20 a piece for this. This is a beautiful and interesting port.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
This is one of our favorite ports. There is tons to do, we paid a taxi $20 a piece for 3 1/2 hours of site seeing after our submarine excursion was cancelled due to rough seas.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
This is very unorganized and employees aren't sure what to do. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or not trained. We stood in line for over an hour.
