Great staff, the ship was large, but the staterooms and corridors were too small

Review summary

This is a large ship and it seemed like a cattle car to me. The staff was very nice, but the architect's design was terrible in my estimation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
There weren't any main dining rooms, just a bunch of small restaurants. There was a cafeteria called the Garden buffet.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The comedians were good, but the room was small and decorated as if it was a basement. Several activities were held in the Atrium, and the bingo was in Syd Pour house, a bar

4 out of 5
There were a lot of movies shown in the Atrium.

Children's Programs

Did not bring any children on this cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were excellent. They were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Our balcony cabin was very small. The doors opened into the corridor because there wasn't any room to open into the cabin. The corridor was half the size of the Carnival corridor. When the housekeeping carts were in the corridor, you had to go into the cut out area in front of the cabin and hope no one opened the cabin door.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The foot of the bed bed was 2 feet from the cabin wall, a tight fit if you were carrying anything. The desk/vanity was 1/2 the width of the Carnival vanity. Our balcony chairs could not be used to look out onto the sea, because the depth of the balcony was shorter than the length of the chair and my knees. There is a water restriction built into the plumbing, so the toilet only flushed some of the time. The basin also did not drain well.

Ship tip

Take one of the older Norwegian ships, they are much nicer.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
We went to the French Quarter and enjoyed it, but it was not on a ship excursion.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
It rained the day of our excursion and many passengers with beach tours came back very early

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We took the Rum Museum and city tour. Very nice. We did have to tender from and back to the ship.

Harvest Caye, Belize

3 out of 5
This port had a very long covered walkway from the ship to the island.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did go shopping at this port, but did not take an excursion

Our group was called earlier than posted, but we spent a great deal of time in the line that went around the deck of the ship.
