Review summary

This cruise never happened.  Actually we did leave N.Y. on Oct. 10 bound for Port Canaveral and Nassau Bahamas instead of Bermuda due to Hurricanes Matthew and Nicole.  I would not have chosen those ports as alternatives especially since there really is not a lot to do in Port Canaveral and Nassau was devastated from Hurricane Matthew (they offered no excursions in Nassau and we left after 5 hours in port).  Norwegian did not give us an option to leave the ship in New York.  Right up to October 9 departure, they were still planning on going to Bermuda, and it was either take the new itinerary or leave it.  I was told you should have known that there would be no refund or option to rebook when you signed your contract.  This was our 6th Norwegian cruise, and it will probably be our last.

Nice small cabin. A little noisy from the disco music on deck 16.

Ship tip

Make sure you have travel insurance that allows you to cancel. And make sure you cancel 72 hours before departure otherwise it's no good.

my point: people are complaining about how much they were suffering getting stuck on a First World Vacation (meals, hot water, electricity, entertainment, shelter, warmth, etc) .......while they were suffering they should look over the bow and notice the not so fortunate and that things could be a ton worse. If you want to complain about NCL's handling of notification or OBC or refunds etc, I'm OK with that...... but the minute someone complains about nothing to do and they're bored....... I roll my eyes

There were no exclusions in Nassau because the ship only docked for 5.5 hours. The comment about helping clean up. I didn't think my eyes could roll that far.

I wouldn't cruise during hurricane season.... It's a gamble

Just curious if there were no excursions in Nassau (most likely because those businesses and families were trying to piece their life back together) and passengers were in port for 5 hours twiddling their thumbs....... Did you organize other passengers to help Nassau recover in any way? Did you lead passengers to clear debris from the roadway or yards or help businesses re open by assisting them cleaning up storefronts..... or did passengers stay on deck sipping martinis, looking down on the destruction and just complain?? This is not specific to this OP but an open question to all those complaining.

Carnival also has had quite a few mishaps in the past decade (3 incidents alone in 2013). They're still probably more profitable than NCL... it seems like they made the right adjustments internally to attract guests and bounce back from bad times.

Carnival offered 100%refund or take the cruise with OBC and a discount on your next cruise.

Unfortunately, that is in ALL cruiseline contracts. Always you are paying for room and board, with no guarantee or compensation for ports.
