Review summary

So to be brief-we were watching the weather all week, knowing that the hurricane was heading for Bermuda.  We called Norwegian SEVERAL times asking if we would be having a change in itinerary and they kept telling us no, we are all set to sail!  No changes.  They WAIT until we are all on board to make the announcement that we were not going to make it to Bermuda, instead we would go to Florida and Bahamas.  So we figure we would make the best of it.  Due to hurricane damage at both ports, we were limited to what we could do and excursions were not even offered in the Bahamas because we were only there for 6 hours!

 

They offered us an on board credit of $200, which was BS because that just paid for our gratuities at the end of the week.  The way they handled this was absurd!

 

We had friends who were sailing on Carnival to Bermuda that same week and we were going to meet up there.  THEY were informed by Carnival 72 hours before their departure of the itinerary change and were given the option to cancel and get 50% off their next cruise OR get 50% off this cruise.  Obviously Carnival knows how to do business and take care of their customers!  Norwegian does not.

 

The crew was absolutely horrendous.  Service at the main dining rooms was terrible.  It took us close to 2 hours to get dinner every night and we went specifically when it wasn't busy.....funny thing is we got quicker service when it was busy at the main dining rooms.

 

Everyone was miserable.  We tried to make the best of it but you spend a lot of money to go on a cruise and to be treated the way we did was unacceptable.  We contacted Norwegian about all of our issues and were basically told to go fly a kite.  Nice......will never cruise with them again!

Ship tip

Go to the specialty restaurants! As a promotion, we got 3 free specialty restaurant meals to choose from, it was so worth it! The Brazillian Steakhouse was an amazing experience!

The second excursion they told me they weren't going to refund me because the excursion went out and they were waiting for us which wasn't true. we asked the service desk they told us it had been cancelled..of course they wanted a name from us (which we didn't have) who told you that can you ID him. we went back to the desk someone else check and again the excursion came up cancelled so refunded

We just got back from the Bermuda cruise on Sunday 3 out of our 4 excursions were cancelled due to high wind getting refunded back the money was a joke...knowing the excursions were cancelled (and mind you the excursion person holding the excursion sign said we would be automatically refunded) at the excursion desk we were asking who we spoke to what were they wearing what color was her hair

Wow I haven't contacted ncl yet we were on same cruise. Certainly didn't get what we paid for. Very disappointed. So many activities closed poor food and drink service. The $200 was a joke. I'm still not over how disappointed I am. Know u can't change Mother Nature but thats no excuses for poor service and planning. This was my 6th cruise some better than others this was by far the worst.

Same cruise and not to mention main pool closed two days and sports deck including rock climbing wall, ropes course, and 2 main slides closed most of the week. We made the best of the trip but our kids who planned for Bermuda and wanted to try several activities on board were extremely disappointed. Several cruise lines in similar situations offered their customers more. You sacrifice all year for the trip... from a monetary, school, and work perspective. One would hope to get better from ncl. The breakaway is a really nice ship it was a shame ncl did not communicate with or compensate their customers better.
