Review summary
The Breakaway is a beautiful ship. The cabin was very well cared for. The ship is kept very clean. However, the common areas of the ship are not adequate for the passenger load. Not enough seating to enjoy the performances. People charge like a stampede when someone gets up to leave. The performers are talented in their own right; however, they recycle the same 10 or 12 songs incessantly as they make their way to each venue. The restaurants are mediocre at best. The preparation of the food served was good; however, the quality of the food left much to be desired. We have cruised on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean and there is no comparison as to the quality and variety of the food offered at dinner. Trying to be seated for a meal is always a challenge. At the Garden Café one has to scour the area and wait for someone to leave before you can be seated. Also, the noise level was always at a loud crescendo. You couldn't begin to have a conversation around the pool area or anywhere in the vicinity. Even on the 3rd sunning deck forward one was still surrounded with music. Many of the performers were offensive. Some were very good. Rock of Ages should not be performed where children are included. All entertainment should be G rated. The staff is awesome. They couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. I've cruised on the Gem and my analysis is that the Breakaway is just too big, especially on a cruise that spends so many days at sea and all are gathering inside for entertainment.
