Review summary

It was an okay value for a cruise. Having been on other lines, I felt like NCL was finding little ways to squeeze more money out of me. The fees on the “everything included” package added hundreds more to the price. With specialty dining taking up prime viewing locations on the ship, it means either you squeeze into the observation lounge with the rest of the ship or pay to get a little peace and quiet. I think it’s a nice experience for some, but my personality prefers more decorum and respect for personal space. I probably would have done better in the Haven, but it cost thousands more for a room. The staff were exceptional. The food was beautifully prepared.

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Good selection; too many specialty dining options

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Thermal spa has serious design flaw. The pass costs more than any other cruise line, has signs that it is a quiet area, but it only takes one person talking over the hot tub to ruin the experience for everyone in the open area. The staff did their best to keep it nice and reminded guests to be quiet, but they can only do so much given the echo in the open room.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everything was sparkling clean, super responsive staff!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Typical big shop design. Not very imaginative. Very clean, thanks to ubiquitous staff.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
They bill it as a “mini suite”, but is the same size as most balconies. The true “suite” experience is in the Haven area.

Ship tip

This is one step up from Carnival. Introverts should consider Holland or Celebrity in the same price bracket.
