Overall is good for our first cruise, except the detouring part which is very, very disappointing, because we spent big money and want to see Mexico. It is difficult for us to take 3 week vacation. This could be a trip of our lifetime. We truly believe the cruise line should compensate the difference in price. It definitely not costing the same to San Francisco than to Mexico. It is not fair!!!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Good and smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Very nice and upkeep, was good and clean, except the Manhattan dining room was too noisy, service was slow and some people dress code was terrible - shorts, flip flop and low cut undershirt. Also wish the breakfast had more varieties, it seemed the same every day for 7 days.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Majority of time was too cold for pool. Walking track and fitness center were nice, not too busy. We enjoyed most of the activities scheduled in Atrium.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Havana and Jersey Boys were fantastic! Hope more shows were scheduled. It would be ideal to have different performer every night, then repeat.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All services and staff are great. Especially our room steward, he is prompt, responsible and always have our room tidy and clean.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The common areas are always clean and well maintained. This is our first cruise. We can't comment about the layout and design. But we though feel the size of the casino is way too big. Other than this, overall it is good for our expectation.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin is comfortable and clean. Bathroom size is good. Just a bit small in closet and overall size. It would be nice to have a bigger size TV.
We booked the city tour in this city but cruise was detoured to San Francisco.
We chose this cruise because we booked vacation for our anniversary. We want to explore Mexico. First time for us. Also first time for taking cruise. Something special. In addition, my brother-in-law recommended this cruise line for their reputation and new boat.
The most disappointed part was the detour from Mexico to San Francisco. First, we spent big dollar for this cruise, mainly for the trip to Mexico, for our anniversary. We flew from Toronto specially for this cruise. Second, 3 days before boarding the cruise, we spent more than $500 for bus tour to San Francisco. Came back on Friday night (19th) and found out while sailing away from the port that we were going back there AGAIN! You could imaging how disappointed and upset we were! Especially it was announced about an hour after leaving the port! As if what other choice we had. My sister and her husband accommodated us for this trip and they even upgraded to balcony suite. We feel so sorry for them as they are residents in CA. They could have travel overseas with what they paid rather SF. We do understand the safety of all travellers come first, it will be more fair if the detour was announced before departing the port. By the way, my sister and brother-in-law said among the 20 plus times they take cruises, this is also their first detouring experience.
We didn't join any shore excursions as we planned to explore Mexico and didn't happen. We just walked around town. So rating is low.
True. Cruise lines have no control on weather, especially making adjustments for safety and being able to coordinate with revised destinations with thousands of passengers. Read contract, no refund unless cruise canceled. We make the best of changes when cruising.
