Noordam

10 Night Eastern Caribbean (New York Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 15, 2006

Ship: Noordam

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The Noordam is a beautiful and phenomenally immaculate vessel. From the teak decks to the gleaming public rooms, the ship is truly "eye candy". If you like a more sophisticated atmosphere afloat, Holland America is the line for you. The service is excellent, while understated. Wait staff is attentive, but not constantly hawking drinks as on many lines. From the Sports bar to the signature Crows Nest, this is a great cruising experience.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

I loved this island. I went scuba diving-an absolute must on Grand Turk. The living reef drops off 7,000 feet to the ocean floor only a couple of hundred yards from shore. The was a dizzying array of colorful fish and coral.
Don't Miss: The reef-either by scuba or snorkel.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
El Yunque is an interesting rain forest to visit. The Bacardi distillary is well worth a visit.
Don't Miss: Take time to visit the fort-it is right next to the port.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
We did not stay here long enough. We did not get to Virgin Gorda, which I wanted to do. Instead we swam with the dolphins-great, if a bit pricey.
Don't Miss: Dolphin swim.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Take the catamaran sail to St. Johns. Shopping is great here, but there is a lot of high pressuring, so be careful.
Don't Miss: St. John visit

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
We have been here three times. This time we rented a car and explored the whole island, both the Dutch and French sides. There is much to do on St. Maarten. everything from participating in a mock America's Cup sail to shopping.
Don't Miss: America's Cup race for the young at heart, or shopping for the more laid back.
