Before you drop a load of money on a cruise, next time you should look into what audience the cruise line caters to. Your young family would’ve been much happier on Disney, Royal Caribbean or Carnival and the fogies probably would’ve been happier without your young family on HAL.

Holland America is not known for their onboard activities, entertainment or nightlife and attract older cruisers. If wanting more activities try Carnival, Royal Caribbean or NCL.
