The ship was excellent. It was new, clean, and it was easy to get around.

Nieuw Amsterdam is a beautiful ship.

We have always enjoyed Holland America cruises for their gracious service and their catering to an older traveller. This cruise had many more very young children than ever seen before, as well as teenagers, but all were extremely well behaved and didn not intrude on our cruise in anyway., The food is superb and presented & served beautifully, both in the dining room and in the Lido Buffet. The entertainment was great, a singing program entitled "CANTARE" was just as wonderful as listening to the Three Tenors. Dancing, staging, the Magician and the Comedienne were all very enjoyable. The one Holland America snorkeling tour I took on Grand Turk left a lot to be desired. The two tours booked through Cruises Only were very nice, but I wouldn't recommend visiting "Hell " on Grand Cayman, there's really very little to see...a 10 minute stop was more than enough! I did mention elsewhere that the description that the tours left from port side was not true, both tours required walking and/or riding to the departure point, which in some cases, may not only be inconvenient but impossible for handicapped travellers. We had beautiful weather and calm seas, and overall, felt very satisfied at the entire experience!

The ship was spotless, service was amazing in both the cabins and the dining room and Lido. The food was excellent...it is amazing they can serve hundreds of meals at a time that are as well-presented as they are.

There are fewer staff than on prior cruises and it shows in the service level. Entertainment was great. Since we had been to the destinations before we did not do any excursions. Food was good but the obvious recycling of the prior nights entrees and desserts at the Lido was not very good. We do not come on cruises to eat leftovers although I applaud them for not being wasteful- maybe the crew could enjoy it on day 2

The ship is beautiful. Clean and wonderfully appointed. The service was outstanding with an attentive and friendly crew and staff ready to help at all times. The meals were varied and well prepared. The port of calls were fun and interesting. The entertainment was top notch. Having cruised on several other lines we found this to be our best cruising experience to date. Our other cruises were great this line and ship were just a cut above the rest.

The ship was extremely clean. The food was outstanding. The times at the ports of call was actually much shorter than advertised. The crew was so helpful and solicitous. Overall we were really pleased with the entire experience.

Fantastic ship with wonderful staff.This was our first Holland & America cruise but wont be our last!. The ship has great areas to relax but plenty to do if needed. The pool areas are good but if you want no noise just go to observation deck at front of ship this is a great place to chill out on your own as its never busy. The deluxe staterooms have great perks with use of neptune lounge and priority embarkment & disembarkment and also priority at ports you tender at. Rooms are great size and beds are sooooo good.The Pinnacle Grill is well worth the extra charge it was that good we went 3 times and the Taramind is also excellent. The Manhatan " as you wish dining " does not work well if there is just 2 of you that dont want to share. Laundry service is something they need to work on but everything else is first classs. We cant wait to go on our next Holland & America cruise.

The Nieuw Amsterdam is the newest Holland America Ship. It is well appointed and has many nice amenities. The bathrobes in the staterooms were so soft and comfortable. The stateroom staff is very pleasant and knows your name from day one. We cruised after Thanksgiving and it was decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. The food is great.

Beautiful new ship and awesome crew! Holland America staff are awesome and all all very helpful and friendly. I travelled with my 81 year old father who was in a wheel chair most of the time and they were always available to assist when needed and to accommodate our requests. the ship is modern and very easy to get around. It is definitely not a party boat and would be great for people who like good food, great service and not a lot of crowds. The entertainment is some what geared to the older crowd and you will not find a lot of variety in the music around the ship but if you want a relaxing vacation and you like things on the quieter side, this is a great ship to go on.

The ship was beautiful, well cared for, food was excellent. They do nickel and dime you for everything, from pop to shore excursions though. We were very disappointed in our room, since they changed us from our beautiful location on the 10th floor of the Panorama Deck at the front of the ship with a gorgeous view and spa privileges, to a room on the 4th floor with a balcony, however, the balcony had an obstructed view, and we lost our spa privileges and view. After complaining immediately upon arrival at 1pm, we were told we had to wait until the next day to see if any other rooms were available, then the next day we were told to wait until we reached the next port to see if anyone else was getting off, then we were asked if they wanted us to build us an extra room on the top of the ship for us. Finally we said it would be nice if they at least matched the spa privileges that the other room had, but after 3 days of waiting for some satisfaction they had not even done that. After the 3rd day or so, they finally moved some spa specialties into our room and informed us that we would have privileges to use the spa that were entitled with the previous room, but that they would not be able to move us to another room of equal or better quality, so we finally unpacked after our clothes. They finally admitted that this room, was indeed, a downgrade, not an upgrade, as it should have been if they were going to move us out of a room we booked and paid for almost a year in advance. Unfortunately, this confusion and bitterness made the beginning of our cruise a bit unsettling. I dare say Holland American needs to polish up its public relations end of its operations. We were pretty disappointed with the way we were treated with regards to this room situation. In the end, they tried to make up for it with some small amenities, but the damage had already been done.

The ship charged extra for aaa but the nmain dining room. Charged for room mainteneance. I was used to smaller ships and found this ship too big and expensive

We were very upset with this experience. It was our first cruise and 40th wedding anniversary. While the ship is brand new and beautiful, the air conditioning in our stateroom only worked occassionaly and they could not get it fixed making it impossible to sleep in sweltering temperatures. The positioning of the cosino allowed smoke to permeate the entire ship which was just plain disgusting for those of us who hate cigarette smoke. On the postive side, the crew in many areas was great, especially the dining room. What is sad in the end is that we just couldn't wait to get away from the ship. We spent a ton of money for a very low value.
