Review summary

The Nieuw Amsterdam is the newest Holland America Ship. It is well appointed and has many nice amenities. The bathrobes in the staterooms were so soft and comfortable. The stateroom staff is very pleasant and knows your name from day one. We cruised after Thanksgiving and it was decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. The food is great.

The Lido is their buffet. It has many selections, it would be very hard not to find something you would like. The Pinnacle is their premier restaurant. Our reservation got changed to very late in the evening and it was hard to enjoy the meal so late. The food arrived tepid and our steak was not made to order. The Main (Manhatten Dining Room) struggled with hot meals. I believe the food is preplated and kept under a light which is not hot enough. The taste of the food was just excellent and the service makes one feel special and well attended to in both restaurants. The Canelleto the Italian Restaurant did it right. The food was made to order and was hot and delicious.
