Review summary

This was our first cruise and I wished I would’ve went with a more luxurious ship with better food and entertainment. The average age on this ship is 70. The ports of call weren’t what I expected.

Embarkation

Wonderful

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
In the dining room my food was inedible. On the lido deck food was average. We had the drink package which I don’t recommend because you couldn’t get in on the drink specials and got charged full price for all drinks even during happy hour. The food was very salty.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Used the casino which one dealer didn’t even know how to count to 21. The comedy show was great. Didn’t use the pools or spa.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I really enjoyed the comedy show. Didn’t go to any of the other shows. Wasn’t my style.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was great when we received it. Sometimes took a long time to get water or coffee refills. House keeping was great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was very small for 4 adults. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Ship tip

If average is ok with you and very little entertainment then this is you’re ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Grand Turk Island

Loved the shops here but was expensive. Great food at margaritaville.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

1 out of 5
Went with a guide that showed us all the scariest parts of San Juan. Didn’t care for it.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Lots of shops and great things to buy.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Weather to bad to visit

kbergerrn's.....sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I, too, believe one should research as much as possible before choosing a cruise. You have to think about the top 3 things you're really looking for in a vacation and make your decision from that. If you go into anything with too high of expectations.....you most likely will always be disappointed. Always look at the good in everything and you'll come away feeling happier and fulfilled. 👍🌸🍹❤🌴

I also believe the drink package is the same on all ships. It usually doesn't include the drink of the day because I tnink tnose come with the souvenir glasses.

It's evident you've never been on a cruise. The cabins are small on all ships for 4 people unless you have a suite. And none of what you said about the ship is true. At least not for us. We were on Nieuw Amsterdam last March and loved it. Not a lot to do on the ship during the day but that's what the ports are for. We went during school vacation and the ages were mxed. Our cabin steward always greeted us by name when he saw us and asked how our day was at the different ports. Cabin always spotless and we never had to ask for anything. The staff in the buffet were great. ALWAYS smiling and happy and asking if we needed anything. Food was great, and the main dining room food was absolutely delicious. Also the Dive-In where they have hamburgers, hotdogs and French fries. Best burgers I've ever had. The pizza was made to order and you get the whole pizza, not just a slice and the Caesar Salad was great too. We had a wonderful time. What was wrong with the ports you went to? Sounded good to me. Next time do more research.

Yes, cruises require a bit of research. We try to read as many reviews as possible: about the ship, food, & ports. Watch YouTube videos about your desired ship, it will give you a visual feel of the ship/passengers. Bon voyage on your next one.
