Good Time by dge76031

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise so I don't have anything to compare it to but we had a wonderful time. I gained 5 lbs and have nothing but praise for the food and crew. Just a fantastic 7 days.

Exactly what we needed! by garretthomescho

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing week aboard the Navigator of the Seas! It is an absolutely beautiful ship and we explored just about every inch of it! We were extremely pleased with just about every detail of the ship: our room was comfortable; the entertainment was enjoyable (except for Ed Alonzo, who was not funny at all, just stupid); the food was good (but not exceptional as we had experienced before); ship staff were very friendly; and the available activities on board were numerous (we especially enjoyed watching people try the Flowrider).

A cruise like this, with 3 full days at sea, gives an opportunity to do as much or as little as you choose. We often enjoyed pulling up a chair at the edge of the deck and just listening to the ocean, but we also enjoyed some of the trivia games, a shuffleboard tournament and watching a dodge ball tournament.

Shore excursion choices were numerous as well. For Jamaica, we chose the "Heart of Jamaica" tour, which became the highlight of the whole cruise. As part of the tour we stopped at a school where we got to visit with the children and then they sang for us. They were precious!

As mentioned before, we were a little disappointed in the food on this cruise. We were expecting it to be outstanding as we have experienced before (athough it was quite some time ago) but it was nothing special - very good, for the most part, but not outstanding. The Windjammer is a buffet and was as would be expected, but the main dining room did not meet our expectations. Perhaps it was that the food choices - we are midwesterners who love food for the common man, but many of the choices were more formal than that to which we are accustomed. We had room service for one meal and that was the best meal on the cruise!

While not perfect, this cruise was exactly the get-away we needed and we would go again in a heartbeat!

Cruise from Galvaston by Rich556

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First, like I usually do, I book a motel a day before the cruise (just to insure no timing problems). So I booked this cruise from Galveston and then a motel there.  Then air from San Diego to Houston, and thinking I would just rent a car at the airport and drop it off on the island, go on the cruise and rend another car when we returned and visit my cousin in Katy then fly home.  Problem:

You can not just rent a car at the airport and drop it off at the port.  The only car rental on the island is Enterprise and they don't accept other car companies cars.  So, the choice is take a taxi for a lot of money to the port.  Same back as Enterprise charges $200 a day if you try to drop a car off from the island.  So, what to do?  I looked at the web, to find a lot of people had/have the same issue.  The fact that .Royal Caribbean had a shuttle for the cruises.  No Royal C people told me about this.  So, I cancel the island motel, book one by the airport and am going to use the ship shuttle.  I call and find I can not buy a ticket over the phone/web. one has to just to appear on Sunday morning and buy a spot on the bus to the port.  So, we show up on Sunday morning (there is no one there except Sunday) and buy our tickets, I try to buy a return ticket, but you can not.  You have to buy it on the ship.  So late in the cruise I try to book the return shuttle, but NO, I had to do it a day before I tried to book them.  Was told I had to do it a day earlier!!  I was ticked, told the clerk that this was most likely the first and last Royal Caribbean cruise.  So, luckily our dinner mates found out and we returned back to the airport with them, rented a car there to do some Texas visiting.  We were also billed for a higher beverage package than I had purchased, glad I caught it, they had to cancel it and reduce the charges.

Food was the worse I have had on some 10 cruised.  The lobster night was a 1/4 pound thing that was cut in half and was almost impossible to get the meat out of.  I had to use two knives, our dinner mates had to have the servers remove their lobster meat.

Looking at the prices for the Wi-Fi is not worth it.

I was not impressed with this cruise/line

Old ship by vanhoe1943

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship was refurbished last year, but many details showed her age.  The balcony in our stateroom was small, showing rust and the flooring was coming up.  The mattress was old and bumpy.  Who knows how old it was.  Asked for a firmer mattress and was denied. The food in the main dining room was excellent.  The buffet was weak.  Fried eggs were precooked and put under a heating lamp.  The buffet only had one toaster working and toast was pre made and put in a a basket and cold.  Bread selection was limited to 3 choices.  Other ships have 5 or 6 selections.  The lunch buffet used dutch ovens and they were old and chipped.  Entertainment was ok but not great.  In the promenade there was music but limited or no seating.  I don't believe that I would cruise RCL again.

Service was excellent! by lmp111685

We went on the cruise to get away from the worries of daily life, phone calls, emails, etc.  The staff on the ship did an excellent job not only serving us, but always with a smile and kind word.  I love traveling with Royal Carribean Cruise lines!

Best cruise yet by pln3164

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Older Family of 7 had a great time...weather, service, food, ship was perfect...Not thriled with the lead singers in the shows the harmonies didn't blend in fact several people around us got up and left..the other singers and dancers were great..don't get me wrong they are very talented and have fine voices but their individual style and pitch was not in sync..My Sister -in-laws virtual screen was broken upon her arrival to her stateroom and the staff had if fixed in no time gave her a nice discount and a bottle of wine which was nice and saw to it all was well in her room..would have liked more time in Cozumel...Allure of the Seas docked about the same time as us and was allowed to stay till 6:00 I think our 3:30 was too early had to leave our resort at 2:30 to get back in time...other than that all was very nice..

Curse of the hot tub by alston1938

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruise ok but got finger infection from bacteria in hot tub. Will never ever go in public tubs. These tubs can never be bacteria free. Too many people going in them and film lurks in jets, piping. Don't trust with all Legionnaires, rash, infections from poor hygiene of guests. Medical not much help. Should immediately want to see any guest for comp evaluation with infectious disease to avoid epidemic. Had to get own antibiotics in Belize. Ship medical fees expensive $$$. Also feel wifi should be reasonable $ and Compass could b on smartphones, save all that paper! Most want to send quick messages back home, not linger. Being out of touch is frustrating. Chef not great this trip, main dining, somewhat dissapointed. Showtime should b weekly planner, not morning of show. We like to know. staff not informed on shows. Toilets jammed 6th level, no help to guests. Why not save few empty cabins for emergency moves, make their trip not a complaining disaster? They will never cruise RCL if not treated right, why aggregate them? Just sayin... we've done 16 various cruises...but not dedicated to one line. Overall good trip for us....

Awesome!!! by glenn421

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our whole experience from the time we boarded, to the time we disembarked was terrific. The whole staff made us feel welcome. There was so much to see and do not only on the ship, but all the ports of call as well. Too much to list. The food was excellent, and so much to choose from. Everyone assigned to us, from the stateroom attendant to the dinning staff could not do enough for us. They really go out of their way to make your cruise experience a memorable one. Thanks Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean - Navigator of the Seas, Feb. 2015 by jzak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our get away and had a relaxing vacation.  There was plenty to do to keep entertained, rooms were neat & clean, and the eating facilities had a variety of tasty options, although the portion sizes were a smaller this year.  The ship was always kept clean and orderly, inside & out.  Enjoyed the bands and especially the poolside fun everyday.  Some of the bars did not have a full stock of liquor (scotch, amaretto, spiced rums) so we had to search out the ones that did.  The RC staff could have been a whole lot friendlier.  Honestly, after 3 cruises on RC, the staff on this trip were on the cusp of being rude.  Don't waste your $$ on dinner at Chops, we've had better steaks at Denny's.  When we complained, they offered a 10% discount...big deal, keep it.  We were cursed at and insulted in Cozumel for not entering some of the stores along the main street in the shopping district. One vendor tried selling us plastic blue "diamond" earrings at the big discount of $900.  Overall, RC gave us a nice vacation.  We refused to let those that had attitudes ruin our vacation and proceeded to have a great time.

Family oriented by jerricamarillo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was a gift to my teenage Grandson, while the overall experience was good there were some disappointments. There was a group of people called the Grown an Sexy tour who made things very uncomfortable for many people on several occasions. They congregated by the pool, very loud and cursing constantly, dropping the F-bomb every other word and subjecting those who wanted to swim, including the children to the curse ridden music they were playing. While I don't have a problem with adult behavior I do have a problem with those actions being done in the presence of children. Alcohol was continued to be served to them even after they were more than drunk.

Also the women behind the excursion desk was rude and condescending, answering our questions with attitude and apparently not on her A game that day.

Our dinner server Malcolm was excellent as well as his partner. They were both friendly and extremely efficient. They made my eight year old Grand Daughter feel like a princess and went above and beyond to provide us with a wonderful experience.

Our room attendant was also wonderful and my Grand Daughter loved the surprise animals and thought they were made for her and only her.

Food was great!

A pleasant trip by txlnghrn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a repeat trip to escape the winter weather and soak in some sun. We enjoyed the Windjammer cafe- where we ate all of our meals.  We wanted a simple trip- no dressing for dinner stuff. The Windjammer offered a wide variety of international foods or the old standard hamburgers or hot dogs. We did miss the port in Falmouth, Jamaica due to high winds and went to Montego Bay instead.  Unfortunately, there was not much to do or see there. The other stops were the Caymans and Cozumel, Mexico which had the usual touristry stuff. The staff on board were pleasant and took care of problems in a speedy manner (we didn't have any hot water in our cabin).

some cons: They have cut corners on staff and in the afternoons a walk thru showed towels left everywhere, coffee cups etc. They push drinks but mine did not have any or very little alcohol in it. So I didn't order any more. The cruise was mostly Texans ( including me) which is why most of the bars, lounges played country western music-not my taste. There was a dj that played music at night for the young crowd.

trip review by maxhalliburton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Traveling aboard the Navigator of the Seas was a very pleasant experience.  We have made a number of trips on different ships but this was one of the best yet.  Ship staff very pleasant and friendly at all times.  Food was excellent and plentiful at all times.  The very minor negative comment would be that the ice cream machines on the 11th deck were closed after about 9pm.  Those of us that would like a little ice cream could not find any other than the Ben & Jerry bar on the 5th deck which we had to pay extra for.

Love and Sun and Booze by 8TO9oHuWyDdZ6uBP96BZLXHyI

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was me and my boyfriends first cruise but definitely not our last.   We were impressed at all the things to do on the ship.  And we had heard that Royal Caribbean had the best food of all the cruise ships but wow the food was amazing and the service was great as well.  Our server Melwin waited on us the first night and we requested him every night after.  He really knew his menu even though it changed every night.  And just to give you an idea of the food we ate prime rib, lamb, lobster and so much more and it was all great quality.  Cant wait to go back!

Waste of Money with Royal Caribbean by kicks52187

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I spent all the cash we got from our wedding to take a honeymoon cruise. Everyone told us that instead of going with Carnival, we needed to take Royal Caribbean, because it was a step up and much better. Don't get me wrong, the ship was nice, but our experience was not. My husband and I are in our 20's and we felt disrespected and pushed to the side due to our age. Our waiters were condescending at times and we never really got to know who they were. The last 3 nights at dinner, it took 10-15 minutes for them to even acknowledge us and to even get a glass of water. Royal Caribbean was constantly trying to sell you, what they call top of the line items, that were not top of the line items. The whole cruise was very "gimmicky" and we did not have fun at all. With 3 days left, we were wishing we could get off the boat and go home. This was a waste of money to us. This cruise would be recommended if you are an older couple as they were well respected on the ship. I wish we had gone with Carnival as my experiences with them have been amazing. Food for lunch was also not very good as most food was stale and cold. I would not recommend Royal Caribbean or the Navigator of the Seas.

Amazing by rsavage

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was absolutely amazing.  Royal Caribbean did a wonderful job with food, entertainment, customer service and friendliness.  A crew of 1200 people from over 60 countries around the world to live and work together peacefully, I think we should learn something from them.  Amazing fun and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have sailed on this ship before and really enjoyed it, however this time they seemed to be short handed this trip as the service wasn't what we had remembered from our previous trip.although it was still a good vacation and I would sail on it again and would reccomend it as well.there didn't seem to be as many activities as before. I personally miss the waitstaff doing shows during dinner. that was nice but it isn't done anymore.

Eat, drink & get a tan! by SunFunWater

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on two Royal Caribbean trips and by far they are my favorite company to cruise with.  Their services, staff, food, activities could not be beat.  The price for our cruises have been about $100 a day average.  For the quality of service I would not consider any other cruise line!
