Good but not Great by nlb1133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our favorite par of the cruise was the nightly entertainment, in particular the JAZZ BAND was FANTASTIC!!! Variety and quality of the food was average. Dennis did an awesome job in the WindJammer however closing that at 9pm nightly is NOT a good idea. No midnight snacks, no high tea, no chocolate extravaganza..... a lot lacking.

Not a fan of the Islands we visited however we knew that going in. We went anyway because we liked the ship and that it was 9 days.

Igor in main dining room was GREAT and very professional.

Our cabin had a lot of mold and our son came down with an ear infection from it and we received a $320 Dr bill from the Dr on board.

Grand time with Family by georgemessina44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Favorite part of this cruise was getting together with family.  Our Cousin, Bonny had been staying with ill parents for 20 years!  She was able to take this cruise with us and Brother Ern and his wife Diane.  Our Granddaughter, Cassie joined us and it was a grand 9 nights visitin with family.

The best excursion was the SNUBA dive on Aruba/  George and Cassie participated in this and Cassie was thrilled to try this.  They had a wonderful time together and made a great memory.  This was a top notch operation.

The Zip Line on Labadee was also a great time.

First Cruise, honeymoon by daveandtania

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We had a wonderful time. This was our first cruise and we would go again for sure. Although, we would probably choose different destinations... we like more green, lush, tropical locations.

Great ports by Savitrie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I enjoyed all the ports especially Labadee.  Zip line was amazing.  Did a tour at each port.  Much cheaper to book the city tours once you at the location.  Food on the ship was not all that great.  There was so many activities to choose from.  Enjoyed the spa.  Spent a lot of time there.  One day Two, I Got acupuncture by Alex.  He was fabulous.  Took away all my pain and I was able to enjoy the remaonder of my cruise.

Navigator cruise03-31-17 by fra236001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The islands were the best part of the cruise. Had the ultimate beverage pkg. and was only able to get a 16 oz. water to take to my room. One time I was able to get two 12 oz., bottles. Another time I was allowed to only get one 12 oz., and come back and get another, as you are supposed to wait, and cannot get two drinks at a time on the beverage package. This was at the bar beside Ben & Jerry's. If you ask for a large water, you would be told to try another bar. Guess they wanted you to drink the two 16 oz. bottles in your room, which the drink pkg. does not cover! Carnival and Norwegian, provides the larger liter bottles with no questions ask. Several times I heard the bartenders tell people they could not mix their drink because they were out of part of the ingredients. This was even at the beginning of the cruise. Since I was a solo traveler, this was the first time I ever had to wait on a table for breakfast, because they didn't have a table for one. My time dining, you have to make reservations for the dining room. The disembarkation was very disorganized. Having cruised on Carnival 12 times an Norwegian 3 times, I have not encountered this. I will have to say that Rosebeth and Sergei in the dining room for dinner did an excellent job.

Southern Caribbean by dcherock

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Love the ABC islands, great trip. Ship is a bit old has been updated but still needs improvements. The ship staff was excellent in all areas, very hard working and accomodating. The entertainment wasn't that great and the pool bar tenders were very slow.

Relaxing and fun! by amudpuppie1733

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Just returned from the cruise and it was really great. Enjoyed the multiple days at sea especially! Plenty to do or not do on the ship!! Food and service were excellent! Of the three ports we stopped, Bonaire was our favorite! Not quite as commercialized as the others but all offered their own uniqueness! Will definitely return to Bonaire for the snorkeling and/or diving!

1st time cruiser by reedohio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

For a first time cruiser, I was told by several people that have some cruises under their belt, the Navigator of the Sea, lacks in service and food quality. However, being my first cruise, I will have to be the judge... OUTSTANDING SERVICE from the cabin attendant, dining room, windjammer and spa. The areas for improvement would be poolside attendants to get the coffee cups, etc... And the casino. The crap table should be open the same time as the card tables. I didn't care for the gym attendant, Ryan. He is rude, arrogant and ran customers off with his personna.

Great Cruise by Cruiser9502980

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Best Cruise we have ever been on.  Our table waiter/assistant waiter did a great job.  Our stateroom attendant did a great job also and was very pleasant and professional.

The entertainment was very good, especially the ice skating show and David Curtis Mutter was The Best entertainer we have ever seen on a ship.

One negative element was you only allowed us to see CNN news which is one of the worst news reporting stations in the business.  You should definitely make an effort to at least add FOX Cable to your offerings.

Like it was years ago. by chasowers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Best cruise in many years. Cruise staff, ship, seas and weather were great. only thing we would change would be to go back to our balcony cabins instead of the Promenade cabin we had. We wanted to try it but we still prefer the balcony for being able to set and watch the ocean and also to know when it is morning. Also cabins should have clocks in them. Nitpicky I know, but an observation. Once again the staff was terrific and always friendly. Would definitely do this ship or class of ships again as it never seemed overcrowded or congested even with 3000 plus passengers..no long waits for elevators or service and the ship was completely booked.

Staff and service were great. Food was wonderful. Great shopping on board. Many different options for dinning..  Seems as though the staff would go out of their way to make it an enjoyable vacation.

Our first cruise by sarahharris64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our favorite parts of the cruise were dining and the casino. I only gave it a 2 star rating solely because when we docked in Cozumel trying to exit the ship I slipped on a puddle of water from a leaking cart a crew member was selling bottled water from, that fall ruined my trip, I ended up with a hamstring injury so I spent my day in Cozumel onboard in bed unable to stand or walk. And no one from Royal Caribbean has even called to make sure I'm okay since I've returned home. I'm very disappointed.

Great Itinerary for 9 days by sguerrero14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

You take for granted the 9 days until you are heading back and realize that you have 2 more days to unwind for your trip home.

All the islands were exceptional each one offering great snorkeling, fun tours, and unbelievable beaches.   Traveling in March was a bit rough since we lost 2 days leaving and 1 day coming back due to the wind and chill in the air.  definitely a must return and look forward to see if Royal sends one of their bigger ships.

Snorkeling in Bonaire was unbelieveable with the variety and beautiful colors of the fishes large and small.   The Kukukunuk Tour in Aruba was the most fun we have had since high school.  Hanging out of a multicolored painted bus with no windows and shaking the maraccas and screaming our lungs off at all the passer-by's.

Booking with by Won120805

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We really enjoyed our cruise with Royal Caribbean. When I first booked this cruise with had a few problems and was given false information of what I was getting. I was told that I was getting $50 OBC. Never received had to call them () on why I wasn't given the $50 OBC while I was cruising. They inform me I would get it after I completed the cruise.  The cruise itself was amazing. I 've been a several cruises with RC and never had a problem.  I would recommend anyone to cruise with RC. I would book directly with RC instead of a second party.

Loved the ports by acampbell9238

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ABC islands were absolutely wonderful ports. Beautiful and I felt safe . There was a quaint feel to Bonaire with the best snorkeling and the beaches at Aruba are top notch! Curaçao is cool with the cacti and caves.

Previously we had been on the Oasis so this ship seemed a little small and outdated.

The dining and stateroom service were perfect. The fitness area was great especially the workout/yoga room. It was a very clean area too.

The area that needed attention to cleaning was the deck/pool area. There weren't many servers walking around serving drinks and there wasn't hardly anyone picking up dirty dishes and such. There was only one towel station and I think they could have used another.

There was a lot of deck chair space but no one walking around monitoring chairs and towels on the chairs and straightening up.

7th cruise and we are DONE after this experience! by 2016bekind

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our 7th cruise and we are platinum members with RCCL.  We used to love to cruise, but this experience has changed our minds!  I will start with the straw that broke the camels back, the black and white photo shoot!  We had planned to do the black and white private photo shoot before getting on board and had the clothes ready, made our appointment for day 8 so we could review them on day 9.  Because we planned this we did not take very many other photos throughout the cruise with the other photographers (our mistake!).  The photo session is only 20 minutes and they never discuss price with you when you ask, and since we knew it only cost $300 to purchase any and all other photos the other photographers take throughout the cruise, we couldn't imagine that the cost would be much more than that.  WRONG!! We went to the viewing of our photos and they were amazing, we even cried because they were so great, it was our sons senior trip and really wanted to capture this family memory with our children.  Then came the price tag, $2,500!!!!! Yep, 20 minutes and it costs $2,500 for the photos on a thumb drive.  The least expensive package is $500 for only five 8x10 prints that can't be reprinted.  This was our breaking point because we felt it so emotionally cruel to fall in love with family photos and then have them cost more than the cruise!!! EVERYTHING is to get more money from you one the ship, the health seminars are for you to buy expensive products, free lady pamper sessions for you to buy spa treatments and products. There are five dining areas on the ship to buy more expensive food and ice cream to buy, free giveaways to buy art and jewelry and more photos!!! The ship charges almost $90 to parasail but the same great companies only charge $40 (Aruba) and they let you stay up twice as long and are very professional.  The ship was so overcrowded and there was no where to sit unless you got there early, except for the theatre, the entertainment was less than desirable on this ship so there was always a place to sit there!!! Not our favorite ship at all, but it is still ok, the food was quite good in the main dining room though.  The galley tour was the worst we have ever taken, way overcrowded and you could not hear what they were saying.  All in all I think we are just sad that cruising has changed so much and that it is all about what else they can get you to buy on the ship.   The lines are so long to disembark and the overcrowding and overselling have converted us to going back to all inclusive resorts!!!

One of the best cruises we have taken by christz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We chose this cruise because of itinerary, departure and return to Miami, and what we considered a very good price. Our Superior Balcony cabin was very comfortable, although the balcony itself seemed smaller than those on other ships.

Food and service were very good. I was very pleased with the selection of dishes available in Windjammer, including special theme dinners on some nights that might tempt one away from the dining room (which was also quite good). Our dining room staff really worked hard to satisfy even unusual requests, including off-menu items.

We bought a 2-night dining package that gave us dinner in two of the specialty restaurants on the first two nights. This was a great bargain since the per-person cost was less than dinner for one night in Chops Grille, which was one of our choices. The other was Giovanni's Table, which we tried for the first time and were very pleased with.

The Navigator is now one of RCI's medium sized ships, but still has most of the amenities offered on the other ships: Flowrider, rock climbing, ice skating rink, Royal Promenade. Some areas of the ship seem a bit crowded compared to the larger Freedom class ships and I noticed a few minor details missing that we had enjoyed on Freedom and Liberty. On the plus side, the Navigator (and its class mates) has a "peekaboo bridge" on Deck 11, just above and behind the navigation bridge, where passengers can watch the officers running the ship through large windows, with panels showing course, speed, wind, azipod and thruster power etc.

I was not as excited about the shows on Navigator as I had been on other cruises. We went to the first stage show in the theater with the singers and dancers, and the thrilling ice show, but never went to the other shows.

There was one incident that most people aboard never encountered, but that caused me about 45 very uncomfortable minutes when the ship's plumbing system was shut down for maintenance one night. The bathrooms throughout the ship were inoperative for a while, but were back on line by 5:30 am. I'm sure most of the passengers were unaware of any problem. There were frequent announcements about the fragile plumbing system and warnings about what not to flush.  This is true of any cruise ship but I'd never experienced a problem before.

We were glad that RCI now has a pier at Labadee, Haiti so we didn't have to tender ashore for the beach day. The other port calls at Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire were really fun and interesting. We took an excursion on Aruba that included a ride below the water to see the fish and a shipwreck off shore.

We also had a casual chat with the captain one day while we sat at the Cafe Promenade. He did not identify himself by rank but I recognized him by his name tag. He was just walking around, interacting with the passengers in a pleasant and low key way.

We found the Navigator to be overall a comfortable ship, more so than our previous cruise on a smaller ship of another company. Pitch, roll and vibration were not as noticeable, even when the seas were a bit rough.

We'll definitely be going back to Royal Caribbean for more cruises in the future.
