We had saved and planned for this cruise for several years. This cruise was well worth the wait. We can mark this off our "Bucket List" . What a Trip!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
It was easy to get to the pier. The pre-cruise information was excellent. When we arrived at the pier our luggage was taken and we exited to the check in area. There we were photographed and received our cruise cards. Then we walked the long gangways to the ship where we had a great meal as we waited for our rooms to be ready for us after the last passengers exited.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I loved the Windjammer Cafe and the Dining Room. The cafe in the atrium was also very nice. I did not visit the specialty restaurants.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Loads of activities, especially on the days at sea. From 6:00 to 23;00 you could find something to do on the ship. Plus eating at the Cafe, Dining Room, or the Snack Bar would keep anyone very busy.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
There was something to see every night of the cruise. The skating show was something I not seen on a cruise ship before. The other shows were very nice but typical of many cruise ship's entertainment.
Children's Programs
Our grand-children were not on this cruise with us, but I did look at the services that would have been available.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward Michael Fernando was wonderful. If I mentioned anything; it was there the next day. He greeted us by name every day. Our room was always perfect. In the dining room we had excellent service from Ivonio and Siva Kumara. They remembered our names and our meal preferences. Sometimes when we might meet them in the Cafe they would bring us something we usually ate in the dining room. What a delight! Also Fei Xu and Kimber Josephs were a perfect servers. And who could forget Rayon Brown with his delightful daily attire and smiling face as you enter the Windjammer Cafe each day.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This was a very clean and well designed ship. There were always someone cleaning something on the ship. I really liked the central area with the shops, snack bar, and staircase. There were also many places around the ship to sit and relax.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I really liked our room. It was a different choice than we had made in the past 12 cruises. We had a "Virtual Balcony". The room was large and had plenty of storage. Even the mirrored area around the desk had storage behind it. The barrel chair in the room had an ottoman which was comfortable to sit on. We liked this as much a balcony room
Ship tip
There are some interior rooms that are quite large and comfortable. The central atrium is a wonderful gathering place.
We arrived 3 days early for our cruise. We booked a hotel and planned 2 days of tours before the cruise. We had a London City tour, a tour of The Tower of London, a tour of Saint Paul's Cathedral. Then a tour of Windsor Castle, Stone Hedge, and a tour of Oxford. We also took a cruise down the River Thames. We used city bus and tram passes to get to the tours.
We had a great day due to taking a Hop on and Hop off bus tour. I really liked this. I had seen this before but this was the first cruise where I had booked it.
We had 2 tours in this port where we stayed overnight. The first day we went to Spilled Blood Church and the second day to The Hermitage. Both were excellent and they were short enough so we would not get tired.
It was Sunday and many things were closed except for churches. So, were went to church after we watched a martyrs parade. We also went to a cafe for tea and coffee.
