Review summary

I think for the west coast it is a good 4 day cruise. I think it was done kind of backwards. Since day one was a sea day, it was just a big circle all night since Catalina is only 25 miles across the sea from San Pedro. It would have made more sense to have Catalina stop first day, the Ensenada the 2nd day and sea day as the last day.

Embarkation

Was very simple. It is so helpful to have checkin times

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room had good food. We had 2 dinners there. We had 2 dinners in the Windjammer. It was the best food of any buffet in 26 cruises. Outstanding. We had lunch in Jamie’s and it was really good. Highly recommend the meat plank. The mytime dining is really disorganized. There is about 4 different lines. Some say reservations and some say no reservations. Anyone can go where they want. People do not know where the tables are when taking you to be seated.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pool area and upper deck were nice areas to lay out. It is a beautiful area.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The ice skating show was really good. Enjoyed it a lot. The stage show Showgirls was cancelled.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room steward was amazing. Service was a little slow in dining room. When laying out on top deck above the pool, servers never came by. Was out there 1 day for 6 hours and not one came by. If playing in the casino, don’t expect to see any casino hosts. They are never around or come by to say hi to anyone. The cleaning people actually come by and say hi and call you by name.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My favorite layout of a ship. It is just perfect. Ship was very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

Balcony was very nice. The door was really hard to open though. Everything else was easy to get around

Ship tip

Smile and say hi to everyone. It makes people smile.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Spent the night in San Pedro. Cute town.

Catalina Island, California

4 out of 5
Had been a long time since we were there. We ate lunch in town. I would recommend eating on the ship and then going ashore. Food is very high for so so quality. Typical tourist town. Best thing to do is rent a golf cart for a couple of hours and drive around the town. You can see most everything. But there are only 2 rental places on island they do run out. So just get in line. 1 of the places takes reservations.

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Just took the bus into town, walked around and ate lunch. Good places for people who love seafood. Next time I would probably stay on the ship. 2nd time there, so feel I have seen what I need to see.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It was an ok disembarkation. When they first opened the time up for people to get off, they called groups 1 thru 10 all at once. I have seen calling less numbers and spacing them out about 10 or 15 minutes go much faster. There was a long line to go thru customs.

That was the itinerary for our first cruise (1998). Appreciate your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your short cruise.
