Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

Great time on the newly refurbished Navigator. We loved the itinerary to the ABC islands from Miami. 9 nights was truly great with 4 days at sea to rest. This was our second time on Navigator. The new cabins and added 3rd and 4th berths definitely make the ship feel more crowded. The new slides are top notch and they've done a great job of making it a fun ship to sail on.

Embarkation

Embarkation was delayed because of difficulty getting equipment off the ship from the previous charter cruise. Everyone waited outside until about 12:30, which caused massive lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room was on par with other RC ships. I've noticed they offer fewer options on the menu then they used to. Service was extremely slow two nights. I think My Time Dining overwhelmed the kitchen at times.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The new water slides are excellent. Very fun for all ages. The new pool area is nice as well. Enjoyed lectures and craft projects. There was a little bit of everything.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Really great production shows. Singers and dancers were talented. The ice skating show was top notch. Comedians were great. They only disappointment was the Journey tribute band. Their sound mix was off for some reason.

Children's Programs

Our children did not participate as we traveled in a large group and they had their cousins along.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service in the dining areas was great. Our room steward was disappointing. He often struggled to get our rooms clean even after being gone all morning and evening. It was his first week on his contract and he seemed off his game.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The revamped areas are great. RC has done a great job modernizing the ship. My only complaint is the new Johnny Rockets Express. Open air at the pool, you lose the feeling of eating in a 50's diner. No dancing, no rock and roll. The food is still fine, but it becomes another hamburger without the atmosphere.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Size was ok. Our kids slept on the fold out couch, which was open the whole cruise. It makes moving around a bit cramped. The door to the balcony wouldn't seal and we had wind noise every night. Maintainance came twice, but they couldn't get it fixed. We prefer ocen view.

Ship tip

You might want to book in the aft section. Most of the food and activities seem centered in the back. We were in the front and spent a lot of time walking to the back!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
First time to Miami, so we really enjoyed the sites during sail away.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Beautiful but crowded. Something in the sand gave our kids rashes. Everything is now an up charge. Still it sure beats a day at work!

Kralendijk, Bonaire

Best snorkeling we have ever done. We booked on the sailing ship Compass and had a great time. It was like diving into an aquarium. The crew made the whole trip fun.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
A much more developed island. Lots of neat buildings around the harbor. We spent the day at the Santa Barbara resort on an all inclusive pass. The beach was superb, the food was good and the drinks were strong!

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Beautiful island, but very desert like. We snorkeled with Aruba Water Sports. Great guys on the boat. The water was COLD. Lots of beautiful fish. Would have thought it perfect if we hadn't just visited Bonaire.

Disembarkation

Easy off the ship. Traffic around the terminals is crazy!
