We had a wonderful time on this cruise. Would definitely recommend it. However having cruised 5 times on the oasis class ships we do like the bigger ship. My husband is not a pool guy so he finds there is more to do on these ships on sea days when I’m laying out in the sun. When we got on the ship we were not to sure how we were going to enjoy this cruise but ended up really enjoying ourselves and the 9 days was an extra lovely bonus. Other cruises were all 7 days.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and quick. About 30 min from the time we arrived at the port to on the ship. We are platinum so our line to board was not as long.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate at the MDR every night and had my time dining. Didn’t make any reservations and never had to wait more than 5 to 15 min.Never had a problem to find something we liked on the menu. Food arrived hot . You do have to order your whole meal at once now with a new menu. Everything was fast and efficient. Took about 1 hour from start to finish. Waiting staff were amazing. Breakfast and lunch was in the Windjammer and again finding something to eat was definatly not a problem.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I did use the gym for the thread mill and there were plenty of machines available. Gym was clean and used by a lot of people. Pool area was crowded so my place of choice was always on the top deck and always found a nice place to sit. Yes there are still chair e hoggers and attendants didn’t enforce the 30 min.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We did quite a few of the shows but for me the best was the comedian juggler, the ice show was good and the Journey band was excellent. The quest is a lot of fun as is the love and mariage show. The pool band was one of the best we’ve had.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Again, not disapointed by the staff. Everywere we went we were always greeted with a smile and never encountered anything but nice and friendly staff. Our wait staff in the MDR were amazing as was our room attendant .Bartenders were also good of course some we liked better than others but never had a problem getting a drink. We had the drink package and would say that we got our money’s worth. Not necessarily just for alcool but when you add the bottle water, coffee wine for dinner and a few drinks during the day I would say it was worth it. We paid 42US plus 18% gratuities before our cruise and glad we did because it was 57US plus 18% gratuities on board. The drink card only came available on day 8 for 75 plus gratuities for 10 drinks.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We found the common areas on the ship quite well kept. Staff would clean the main bathrooms quite often. Except for water on the floors it was clean. In the Windjammer Tables were cleaned immediately when someone was finish eating so always a clean table to eat. We went in the theaters and many other venues and never saw a problem with cleanliness.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We booked a promenade stateroom because of a really good price. It is not very big but we kind of knew this was going to be the case. However the storage was plenty. Even better than what we’ve had on the oasis class ships with a balcony. We don’t spend a lot of time in our cabin so not a deal breaker. The big problem was with our mattress. It was sagging on my husband’s side and not comfortable. After 2 nights we went to customerservice and they had our attendant add a topper. It was a bit better but I think it’s time to replace the mattress.....Room was well kept. Couches a bit worn but we put towels on them so we felt it was a bit cleaner.
Love the beach day in Labadee. Had been there 3 times before so didn’t book any excursions. Staff on the beach set us up under a nice tree for shade ..Gave him a tip and eveybody was happy. Had lunch on the Island but didn’t eat much. I’m a bit anxious to eat food that is kept outside in the heat .We were at Nellie’s beach and beach was nice. No rocks and water was superb.
Did a walk around town in the morning because our tour was at 1pm. Very short walk from ship. Really nice downtown. Our tour was an island tour and we enjoyed it very much. Had never been to Curacao. We did the caves, distillery and museum. Our guide was very informative and we enjoyed the tour We didn’t have the internet package on the ship so took advantage of the free wifi site close to the ship
Loved Bonaire. Again took an island tour and absolutely loved this little island. Did the salt flats, slave huts and a few stops along the way. Saw the most beautiful beaches. After our tour we walked around town. Again the town is very close to the port.
We did not do a tour . Husband wanted to shop for a watch so walk in town and shopped. Didn’t buy a watch but he got me a very nice bracelet😁 From what we saw Aruba is also a very nice island. Weather was beautiful and very warm on all 3 islands but a lot of wind. And no I’m definatly not complaining. Not a drop of rain on our entire cruise. I guess we were vert lucky ☀️
