Review summary

Having only cruised once before, and on a different cruise line, we did not know what to expect aboard the Navigator.  We soon found that this ship and its people live up to the image of elegant combined with fun.  The strengths of this cruise were it's impeccable dining room service, stunning Promenade area, and nice cabins.  Areas for improvement were the flow of service at the bars, poolside layout and

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the flexible dining plan, yet ended up eating at the same table every night except one. We have NEVER seen a better team than Motie, Errol and Francisco: they were the highlight of our day! Fabulous servers, Motie was the best ever with his combo of knowledge, professionalism and humor. Francisco kept us well-stocked with our wine, and gave us outstanding service poolside as well, even coming to the very top deck to take care of us. Well done!!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were always lots of things to do. There could be more clocks around the ship, as many things begin and end at certain times and nobody has their cell phone handy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
While we did not go to a lot of the shows, the Quest gameshow, Matt Yee, and karaoke finals were all highly enjoyable and a great way to spend our nights.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This varied: as stated above, Motie, Errol and Francisco were outstanding in the dining room. Sheila was fabulous as our room attendant. Oana and Ella, at the R Bar, had us going there nightly because they were so much fun and mixed incredible surprise drinks. However, the casino people were a mixed group, several were not very friendly or overly helpful (I didn't get names). And the 3rd deck bar staff was very slow and dour. Most workers, however, that we encountered just in passing were very friendly and always smiled and said hello.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Rooms and interior: excellent. Pool decks: cluttered, hard to walk through, slippery surfaces and way too many seats reserved for suites.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved this room! Very close to elevators/stairs, yet no external noise. Roomy - much more so than another cruise line's comparable cabin. We were able to open up our balcony to join with our kids' room next door. I thought there was a slightly sewer-y smell for part of the week, but my husband didn't notice it. Very smooth at this part of this ship too: good for my motion-sick prone kids.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Take a cab to Beach Place and walk around from there: lots of fun shopping, restaurants, and great beach. The rest of Ft Lauderdale is kind of a pit.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Build a pier so the ships can stop in slightly breezy weather! We had to completely bypass this island.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Do an excursion with Liberty Tours! We did the Blue Hole and jumped off many waterfalls and rock structures - thrilling! GET OUT OF LABADEE...there is NOTHING there except the highly commercial small port area. This was by far our best part of the trip, and it was all thanks to Liberty.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Get off early and head directly to ???'s Beach! Make a deal on renting the water mats - it will be hot and crowded very soon, so you want to do this right away.

Traveler Photos

Taking a break from waterfall jumping at the Irie Blue Hold, Jamaica The wine bar in the Promenade Sunset out our dining window Irie Blue Hole, Jamaica Beach on Labadee, early in the day. The library overlooks the inner shopping area. Motie: best server EVER! Overlooking the gorgeous Promenade. Cliff jumping at the Blue Hole, Jamaica. Returning to the ship after a relaxing day on Labadee. In a waterfall at the Irie Blue Hole, Liberty Tours (in Jamaica). Evening entertainment, right over the main area.
