Do not book early! by RichardL6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My experience is very negative when it comes to the people who run the Oceania Cruise Line. They emphasize to "Book early and get the best deal!" WRONG. We booked early and when we were cruising we discussed our cruise rates with the occupants of cabins on each side of us and all in the same category. We paid $3,400 more than everyone else who booked the cruise within 30 days of the cruise. We had booked the cruise months before the others. It so happened that Oceania couldn't fill the ship, so they ran a "Special" that cost others $3,400 less than we paid for the same cabin. So, my advice is to wait for last minute deals. Incidentally, when Oceania was confronted with my being over charged this outrageous amount. They said there was nothing they could do because they had to run the "Special" and I booked too early to get the "Special." All they did for me was give me a $200.00 discount on any future cruise we take with them. You can be certain that I will never attempt to even use it. So again, Do Not Book Early! Wait for their "Specials." Or, if they will do it, ask for a rate guaranty tht no one will be charged less than you for the same category.

Istanbul to Venice with Nautica by ElineP

Sail date: /
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We took 14 Days East Mediterranean Cruise on the Nautica, one of three Oceania ships. The experience was delightful. Our cruise began May 10, 2009, in Istanbul, Turkey, went to Mitilini, Kusadasi, Rhodes, Delos, Mykonos, Santorini, Athens, Strait of Messina, Amalfi/Positano, Taormina, Kotor, Dubrovnik, Venice. We recommend the ship to any adults who want good food, good company, and good experiences ashore.

Our first Oceania Cruise by FredZ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

This was our first cruise on Oceania and our expectations were high. I must say we were not disappointed as they delivered in every way. Due to the size of the staterooms, we chose the smaller suite. The butler service was nice but we did not use his services very often.

Overrated. Overpriced by WilliamM16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We travel several times a year. This cruise line is overrated. The ships have too many cabins per key public areas like the pool. spa, and gym. They were very crowded. Inconstant food. We got food poisoning. Terrible room. Noisy, brown water out of the faucets, smallest shower ever, and light from the neighbors shined through the wall. Terrible tendering. Equipment failures. Rude, arrogant, and aloof officers and managers. Save your money and go on another midlevel cruise line like Princess or spend a little more and go on a true luxury line. Oceania is a pretender.

Trip of a Lifetime by DorisK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We experienced a 35 day cruise on the Nautica. I couldn't believe that the time had passed as quickly as it did. The Ship, and personnel were very welcoming and warm. The average age of the passengers was older but very active and fun loving. The cabins were comfortable and very well kept. The food choices were excellent. We loved the country club casual dress code. The excursions were pricey but well worth the cost. We have booked another cruise and are looking forward to another Oceania adventure.

A great cruise by ArchieN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The ship is beautiful and the staff and crew are exceptional. The ports of call are the best of any other cruises we have been on. It is a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. The state rooms are very comfortable and clean. We love the cruise line but the food in the main dining room was not near as good as the other Oceania cruises we were on. We were very disappointed.

Fantastic Voyage by GA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We did the Venice to Barcelona cruise over 14 days. It was , in a word, magnificent. Nothing but good things to say about the ship, the food, the crew and our fellow passengers. We met a lot of really nice people, and we had fun. The ports of call were generally excellent, but on the downside we could have skipped Corfu and the Blue Grotto! Absolutely loved the mind blowing visit to Pompeii, highly recommended, but more time needed to fully appreciate this ancient wonder.

Did not live up to "Finest Cuisine at Sea" tagline by spfister

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica

September might not be a good month for a Bermuda cruise, both at sea days were very rough, which limited the things you could do on the ship. Overall, food was disappointing for Oceania.

Second worst cruise out of about 30 cruises by cruzinsforme

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Nautica

This was my second worst cruise out of about 30 cruises. Only Carnival was worse! Food was fair to awful, service and entertainment were sub par, Ship internet stopped working about 6 am the morning we arrived in Bermuda and didn’t work again until we were an hour outside of Bermuda. We couldn’t dock in St. George due to the winds…it would have been nice if the ship arranged transportation for passengers not booked on an excursion. They could have given out tokens for the bus or ferry so people could go on their own…little things like that are what put a cruise line above the rest. No inside pool areas…even the spa jacuzzi was outdoors…I knew this before cruising, but it would have been nice to have at least one pool or jacuzzi that was covered.

The weather was unpredictable by SteveMBA

The weather, obviously, did not cooperate, and the Captain did everything he could to make sure we were safe and visited new area. (Hiva Oa). Made the best of it, and Oceania came through.

You can’t trust them. by JMtraveler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica

Our first time on Oceania will be our last mostly due to “destination services” because of their unprofessional poor communication, incorrect information and no notification of significant time changes. We booked air with them and paid for upgraded service but when United separated our seats I was left to fend for myself to fix it. Upon in arrival Japan we were told our transfer to ship would be delayed a 1/2 hour to wait for 30 other guests. Then told another 1/2 hour. 1:45 minutes later standing around the airport we left for the ship. Many emails told us no Covid test was needed then we were subjected and charged 40 dollars for Covid tests. But worse, every single one of our 10 excursions had significant time changes with only fine print time notifications. No bold lettering, No announcement or any type of warning. This caused us to miss a tour by 1 whole hour with no help to join the tour in progress and no refund of 500 dollars. The guides during excursions in Japan were sub par - not pointing things to see etc Tours ran long causing us to almost miss dinner reservations at specialty restaurants. Needless stressful. Untrustworthy. Unprofessional. Any time we asked for information, that information was wrong. We’re told one thing it ended being totally the opposite. They ruined my shirt with their included laundry service for concierge level amenity. There was no special concierge on nautica and no concierge lounge. Just better dinner seating and ruined laundry. No AC in gym and in room AC would shut off automatically at night while sleeping. Food was good, service was good and wine was good. But you just can’t trust their schedule and you can’t make plans. The hotel extension was changed multiple times. We did not know which hotel until day before making me lose birthday dinner reservations at another hotel and sky view ticket’s because they changed the entire extension tour schedule in Tokyo. BTW do not stay at Prince Tower hotel. It’s a dump. The Hilton was fine.

Not up to Oceania standards by UFAlum88

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I have vacationed on Oceania multiple times and this was, by far, the worst experience I have had. We travelled from Haifa to Trieste in Sept of 2022. That said, it was still good, but for the money, I could have gotten a nicer ship, better service, BETTER FOOD, and a better experience for a lot less. One thing about Oceania is that their buffet is (was) better than most ships' specialty restaurants. Well, not on the Nautica. Not only was the food average but the selection was limited, and the food was poorly prepared. On my past Oceania cruises, this had been the highlight of the cruise. In this Polo Grill, the preparation of food left much to be desired. The oysters Rockefeller was half frozen when served. They ran out of jumbo shrimp a number of days before the cruise ended. The quality of the meat and other items also deteriorated before the end of the cruise as you could tell that the prime beef had also run out. Taking into account that Oceania prides itself on being a line for foodees, this was shocking. Another benefit of Oceania was the ratio of service people to passengers. On this trip, there were very few passengers and even with that, there was a shortage of crew. We had 4 cabins at around $11,000 a piece. For that money, we could have gotten suites on most ships. After this trip, I do not think I will be paying the premium for Oceania any longer.

Nautica - great staff, excursions - not so great by csperry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We signed up for this cruise based on the itinerary so we were very disappointed in the excursion changes an omissions. We didn’t find the food exceptional but we certainly had plenty of it. I have to emphasize that the international staff on this ship is their very best asset!

Oceania Nautical needs updating but... by Meltopsy

Sail date: /
Ship: Nautica

Oceania Nautical needs updating but was very clean. We were left feeling the excursions were less than stellar, and very overpriced for what we got.We felt they price gouged at every turn. They have gone downhill since being taken over three years ago.Food was great, staff wonderful, entertainment was really lacking. The excuse was there were no staterooms available to bring acts aboard. They choose to sell them to appeal to shareholders! We were left with a sour taste when we realized the trip to the airport was not included after the flight. They wanted $250. For the trip.We got our own cab for $30.00, Norwegian is not a good parent company for a cruise line like Oceania in our opinion. Oceania deserves better.

Port days turned to sea days by carpenter757

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

we enjoyed the cruise very much, for the ports that we were able to see. but we were very disappointed with the continued changes to the itinerary. This happened several times and turned several port days to sea days- these were NOT weather related changes. The changes narrowed our experience.

when they would move a departure time up in a port they did not increase the time in the next port, it was frustrating.
