Review summary

Absolutely excellent thank you MSC for delivering exactly what we paid for.

Embarkation

Easy, caught a train to Southampton. Walked to the terminal taking in the full size of MSC Virtuosa. Dropped bags, on board within 10 mins. Excellent. Welcomed on board and you could feel the great atmosphere from the staff.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was good in MDR / buffet and poolside. My only issue was breakfast in MDR as MSC have a brunch day at sea and breakfast at port. When we went for breakfast or brunch it was not so successful.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Used all pools, whirlpools, flumes and even the high walk.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loads of shows and entertainment. Only paid for one of the payment shows, it was good but if I had not of gone the theater would have had a good show. The Michael Jackson show was excellent. The pub had a singer that played the guitar and he was excellent.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
How refreshing from P&O experience we had in June. We tried MSC as P&O have lost their way with penny pinching and staff morale. MSC want you to have a good time and the service is excellent. It's time for P&O to pick up or ship out.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is lovely, my wife has made a joke of me all week not being able to find my way around. Normally I am good for finding my way and leading but not on this ship. The ship is well cleaned and maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an interior cabin that was huge. However the storage is small, I do not know what you do for two weeks.

Ship tip

Get prepared to have the best time of your life with the drinks package and entertainment it will be excellent.

Ports of call

Flaam, Norway

We have been here before and done the train which was excellent. This time we nursed a hangover until 11:00 then went to the Viking pub about 3 mins from the ship. Lovely pub, tell the barman what you normally drink and he will substitute for the local drink that is brewed there.

Alesund, Norway

5 out of 5
Lovely place to have a walk around and climb the 416 steps.

Haugesund

Been here before so we did not get off, thought we would take advantage of enjoying the ship for an extra day 😜.

Southampton (London), England

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, we went for self disembarkation as we normally do from Southampton. However be warned that you have to be off the ship between 06:30 and 07:30 which is quite early. Upside to this after leaving the ship at 07:10 we walked to the station and easily made the 08:00 back to London Waterloo only just missed the 07:30 by minutes.

I'll be on this ship next month. Hope it is as you describe. Just a tip....I travel for weeks/months. If the closet space is limited, just take out enough clothes for the first few days and leave everything else in your suitcase and for cruise ships they usually fit under the beds. But in general, you can travel for months on end with just a carry-on and personal item if you only bring synthetic lightweight clothing and hand wash them. Thanks for your review.
