Review summary

This was my third cruise, first with MSC Cruises and was not sure what to expect. Embarkation left alot to be desired. Due to my transportation to Messina, I knew I would be waiting before I could board the ship, but was not impressed at all when the guard told everyone lined on the sidewalk with all their baggage, that we would have to wait over 2.5 hours before we could even get into the terminal out of the sun! The ship was already disembarking passengers for the excursions, but everyone had to either sit on their baggage or the fence in the hot sun, or if lucky enough to get a seat at a cafe across the road. The ship is VERY beautiful and well laid out for the most part. Sometimes the passageways can get a bit confusing. The Yacht Club is completely amazing and well worth the price, when you include the perks and the peace and quiet and great service that you get. Very happy with the cruise and would very seriously consider another cruise with MSC!

Embarkation

No fault of MSC, but people that arrived before the first embarkation timing were not even allowed to go into the terminal to get out of the hot sun!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I ate in the Yacht club restaurant for BFast and Dinner. Excellent service and food was very good. BFast menu same every day though.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Great Yacht club pool and AMAZING thermal spa area. Great gym, fun zip line and F1 simulator.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
AMAZING is all I can say, especially in the champagne bar and the cocktail bar! Yacht Club service was excellent as well.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great ship that for the most part hides the 5000 plus guests, with a few minor hiccups as it is a new ship, just 2 weeks old.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

To avoid the masses, if you can afford it, take the YACHT CLUB experience. Like a ship within a ship, great service, quiet and good value with all the other perks included.

Ports of call

Messina, Sicily Did not visit port

Embarked in Messina. Terribly small terminal and had to wait 2 hours in hot sun sitting on luggage on sidewalk just to start the cruise.

Just home today from a 7 day cruise from Genoa. Balcony cabin 13101. Stunning ship, fantastic crew and a very good choice of food and beverages, although I did upgrade my beverage package. Entertainment was also very good with different shows nightly. Very good selection of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. This was my first cruise with MSC, and overall I was very impressed. It won’t be my last.Highly recommended from me.

Did you drink champagne in the champagne-bar? Or prosecco? If it was champagne was it included in the yacht club beverage package?
