I had an overall very good experience. I definitely recommend getting the drink package or booking when it’s on sale or free as it was nice for me to have the freedom to enjoy it or not. It was fun to experience the parties and nightlife on the ship and I thought 2 am was a reasonable time for it to end. We had a great time interacting with other guests too.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Seaside was delayed coming in from the cruise prior and did not disembark until 12:30 or so, so our check in was delayed 2 hours, however it was pretty easy to navigate inside the terminal with people directing us on every corner. I wish the announcements were a bit louder inside the waiting area due to the crowds that built up but overall not bad.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Overall the food was decent but would’ve liked to see a bit more variety. Lots of bread everywhere, seemed like there could’ve been more use for all the space. The pizza was good of course. Dining room seemed decent but to be fair we only really ate there on the last night and I’ve been fighting a stomach virus since Thursday (it’s now Sunday). Did not get to try any specialty restaurants as the specialty restaurant selection didn’t seem like anything I would go out of my way for personally. That’s more of an MSC thing rather than specific to this cruise though. Also I will say the buffet on deck 8 got very crowded and chaotic at times and many of the guests were rude here, cutting in front of you, letting kids run around and cut people off, etc.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was so much to do on board there’s no way to do or see it all in a short 4 night cruise. We were finding new pools and areas to hang out every day it seemed. Plenty of chairs to go around too and no chair hogging like you see on other cruise lines
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We went to the Michael Jackson show in the last night and it was absolutely amazing, I’m not usually into “shows” but it was truly worth the watch and I wished it was longer. Also, it often seemed like there were dancers and DJs starting parties in different spots and it made the ship come alive. Entertainment team was great
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The room steward we had was great and our waiter and his assistant were amazing. There were many other great staff on board but it was often hard to get their names and their name tags are small.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very luxurious feeling and seemed like staff was always going around collecting drinks, sweeping, etc. I do wish there were fewer mirrors and more windows, such as by the staircases. The mirrors are okay and make it feel fancy but as someone with an interior room, I love to be able to see outside from different spots
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was an accessibility room and was nice and large with plenty of room for us. We did not request this room though and it was just luck of the draw, but having been spoiled with a large room, I think next time I would pay for a more spacious upgrade. Our room was cleaned twice daily and the cabin attendant did a great job.
Ship tip
Make the most of your experience. We had a lot of unanticipated changed to our schedule (ship mechanical error, delay in embarking, extra 6 hour in Nassau, excursion cancelled on Ocean Cay). There was a lot of complaining going on but I personally had a great time despite the unexpected stuff.
This place was beautiful and good if you want to relax or do ocean activities. Some of the staff seemed a bit annoyed at times. Also some people were complaining the food places were not open the first day on the island, but we didn’t even arrive until after 12:00 pm so we had lunch on board and I didn’t find it to be a big deal. The lagoon was good for swimming but beware of jellyfish, they seem to be heavily populated in that area. I would’ve liked to see more of the island but we were pretty tired by this point in our trip lol.
I know everyone says not to bother with getting off here but it was my first time and I would go again. We spent the day at a beach by Atlantis. Granted we were solicited all day and the locals try to sell you drinks, chairs, jewelry, etc all day but it didn’t bother me. The ocean here was quite choppy on this day but can’t help the weather. We ate conch fritters and curry chicken at a hole in the wall type place near the port (the place had no name) and it was very good.
Disembarkation was a pretty smooth process however we got to the very end about to get off the ship and find out we need to settle our account balances at one of the nearby machines. I was aware of the need to settle account balances, however I thought this just meant to settle any discrepancies. I did not realize that EVERYONE needs to settle your balance meaning pay the ship or be refunded for your onboard credits before getting off. I thought the point of connecting a credit card to the ship card was so that charges could be settled with ease. Live and learn.
There seems to be a lot of negative reviews about this ship and the cruiseline on general. Your review is one of the minority of positive reviews.
I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. Thank you for your review.
