Review summary

Cruise was ok. The minute you got on the ship, crew was there trying to upgrade the beverage package, sell you spa treatments or specialty restaurant meals. Beverage package is not fully explained when you are booking. The basic drink package will not get you far - very few cocktails included, only 2 beers and a few wines, soft drinks and coffee are included though. Food needs to have more variety and selection. Guest relations staff was not very friendly and somewhat sarcastic. When questioning our bill we were told "don't worry about it." Excuse me - I'm the one paying the bill - I will worry about it if it's not right. Our bills were mixed up a couple times, wristbands had to be switched out as they would not open our cabin door, and later in the cruise somehow my picture would show up on my son's wristband when scanned. Bars need more bartenders and waiters - had to wait long time to be served. However the disembarkation was the very worst and ruined what might have been a good vacation. Will never cruise with MSC again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth and we were able to get on ship earlier than we thought we could.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining rooms were pretty, food was pretty good. Buffets were good but no variety - same food day after day after day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
pools were nice - hard to find deck chairs - too many people "save" chair and don't come back for hours. Crew was supposed to take towels up if no one using chair - but that didn't happen.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were really good, musicians, dancers, performers were really talented and very good, but it seemed like the "same" show every night, just different costumes

Children's Programs

no children on trip with me

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Cabin steward was awesome. Most ship personnel were friendly and helpful. Guest relations were mostly rude and sarcastic.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean - felt like the ceilings were too low - made the rooms feel smaller.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice room, very clean. Only downside would be the location of the closet - it was right beside one of the beds, making it difficult to get to the closet and the doors didn't slide all the way over, making it difficult to get to some areas of the closet. Not real fond of the card in the slot feature - if your ship card was not inserted in the slot, power would go off. If you were trying to charge your phone while out of the room, the power would go off. If we left card in the slot, the light outside the door would indicate that we were inside the cabin and this would throw off the cabin steward - not knowing when he could come in.

Ship tip

Don't go unless you are prepared to eat the same food day after day, see the same show day after day, and are prepared to wait hours to disembark at the end. Don't book an early flight because you will miss it. Most unorganized disembarkation procedure I have ever experienced.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Love San Juan but arrival and departure times were not ideal - arrived at 5pm left at 2am - no time to really sightsee - the fort was closing 7 minutes after we arrived after climbing up very steep hill to get there. Would rather have been there during day so we could have seen more.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Beautiful. Visited the aquarium and Maegans Bay beach - employees at the beach were not the friendliest but the beach is wonderful, water blue & clear.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Pretty - didn't do excursion just visited the shops at the port. Some of the vendors were not particularly friendly but we enjoyed our time shopping there.

Nassau, Bahamas

We visited Atlantis - wow! This place is amazing! Very beautiful. The shops around the port were nice, some of the salespeople were quite pushy but we had a great time.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Absolutely the worst disembarkation experience ever. The lack of organization, direction and planning was extremely frustrating and annoying. We waited in line for 1 1/2 hours to get off for the "e-z off" departure which should be reserved for those who have early flights. Instead 80% of the passengers were trying to get off, lugging their luggage with no idea where to go, where the end of the line was and no direction from staff. We tried many times to get staff to help us since we had an early flight, but they refused. They said this was the only way, but we saw several crew members escorting people directly to the exit ahead of those of us who had been waiting forever. This poor disembarkation plan caused us to miss our plane and thereby miss a family wedding at home. This ruined the day and our cruise experience.
