I think I covered everything in the details. Thinking about the entirety of the cruise I think it would have been better to spend the money on another cruise. Also, to be fair this wasn't our first choice of a cruise on MSC. We were booked on a cruise to Cuba and when the US closed the door on that, and we weren't offered a refund, we went with this one.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Because Hurricane Dorian was threatening, we were told to arrive at 9am. Everybody did. Then we waited for about 1 and a half hours to board. The pro was that one of the employees saved the day for us by getting us on a little ahead of the rest.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food ranged from school lunch quality to exceptional. More of the school lunch variety than the exceptional kind. All the service personnel were kind and friendly. Adam our waiter stood out in the MDR.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The few we did were great. We had a balcony so we spent a lot of time there.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We had heard the shows were excellent and we weren't disappointed. These shows are the best we've ever seen on any of our cruises.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Christian our steward was hardly ever seen but magically performed his duties. We had a special request and he filled it perfectly. Bar tenders were great. Buffet and MDR personnel were excellent at their jobs.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Took a long time to learn the layout. Ship is big. Though huge, it was kept immaculate all the time. The only con is that dishes and food sitting in the hallways were there a long time. We were able to find our cabin by the plates sitting outside the next cabin for over a day.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Best cabin ever
Ship tip
You'll need to pretend you're taking a cruise around Europe. 75% of the passengers don't speak English. Also, other cultures do not have a problem with just cutting in front of you or just banging into you. Your patience will get a workout. MSC seems to have made the decision to be an European cruise line in an American market.
