Review summary

I would do this cruise line again, but I think I would do a smaller ship as I think that would better suit my husband and I. I am interested to know if there are longer port times on any other ships. We spent about 4 days at sea altogether. I was comfortable enough in the bed but my husband found the mattress hard. I thought it odd that twice, sheets on the bed were torn on the sides and frayed in spots.

Embarkation

Embarkation was smooth and pleasant. There were few line-ups or wait times.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the dinning room was very good and I was happy with the choices. I do wish that the featured items on the menu were more reasonable priced as an option. There is 1 sit down breakfast dinning room where you are served but the hours of operation are early and short. I like to sleep in on vacation and relax at breakfast so this dining option was not very flexible. We ate our breakfast at the buffet 5 out of the 7 mornings. The buffet is a zoo!! Too many people, too much pushing and shoving and very chaotic! Definitely not relaxing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Although I was not well for part of this cruise, I loved the bowling alley. I didn't play but watch a couple of families enjoy it.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainers are top notch, exceptional, right down to the pole dancer. The ship officers available during her show times made sure to attend. Really who could blame them as I think even the women were mesmerized. We attended a couple of deck parties but much of the music was techno and although I enjoy genre's across the board there was too much of this one.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always exceptional service. Alma was our room steward and I could not have been happier with her. Teo was our dinning room server and I absolute loved him. The staff are so polite and service was beyond expectations.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Other than the buffet chaos, the design and layout is fantastic. MSC Seaside is a small floating city with something for all. I love that most cabins are exterior so most patron's had a view.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was our 5th cruise and we thought the cabin was very spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms are very tight but not any smaller then any other ship I've been on. The public washrooms were clean.

Ship tip

Bring your own toiletries as they are not provided.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

2 out of 5
We arrived at 5 pm, with 2 hours of daylight. We walked around the port area for bit but many shops were closed.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
We were in port all day but I wasn't well so we shopped at port for a few hours and went back to rest.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
I loved St. Maarten but again the port time was very short (12:30-4:30pm) but we managed a very hurried tour by an awesome woman who was smart and funny!

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Again the port time was short at half a day. We went to the beach near the ship, enjoyed some local bbq and shopped a little. My husband said we'll go back to Bahamas at some point so that we can actually tour. We were a group of 62 people and many said they went to Atlantis and didn't get to through it as they didn't have enough time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
quick and easy, just the way I like it.
