Review summary

We always very much enjoy MSC. They make our experience a luxury experience unlike no other! We will continue to use MSC for years to come. The only thing I wish I could change would be that they would have a lot more choices on different island during the summer months and also more that did NOT stop in the Bahamas. Besides that, an experience of a lifetime, every year!

Embarkation

We decided to wait until about 4pm to board and spent the day in the everglades. We did not have to wait in line at all! It was quick and easy!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had "any time dining" which was great! If you have this as a choice with the package you buy, I suggest going right in between the other assigned dining times. Everything seems to go a lot faster as most people with assigned times already have all their food. The service is excellent, food is perfect, and you can't get better food anywhere!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There are all kinds of activities on this ship. There are multiple water slides and I tried every one of them. There is also a zip-line which was a neat view. The best was the Aurea bar & hot tub. You have to purchase the aurea package to enter but it is well worth your money! There are very few people that use it and you never have to wait for a drink. Not to mention, it's not crowded up there and you feel like you have a private deck, because you pretty much do.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There was karaoke, dances, live entertainment, kid's clubs, teens clubs. If you can't find lots of options in entertainment on this ship, then you personally are boring and will never be pleased with anything in life. There is something for everyone on this ship!

Children's Programs

I do not have children

Service and Staff

I felt like it took a little too long to get drinks at the casino but besides that, our evening waiter was always wonderful, our steward with greet us by name is we saw him in the hall, and just all around, everything was great!

Ship Quality

The best thing about this being a new ship was the technology. With the Aurea package, they gave us a free armband that worked as a room key. You never had to worry about losing your card. They would touch it to the tablet when ordering drinks and you just touch it to the door to get back in your room. The ship is new so I didn't find a single flaw!

Cabin / Stateroom

The room was plenty big for 2 people. The balcony was a nice size where we could actually stretch our legs while both sitting out there. There was a couch in the room which made it nice for sitting while waiting on the other to finish getting ready. The beds was a king size and plenty of room. It was a nice sized, roomy, comfortable room. Where our room was, it was on the same level as where the crew guided the boat, so it was very neat to see them in there working. I posted a picture of it on my pictures from Puerto Rico. Check it out!

Ship tip

If you do not do the Aurea package, buy the $5 wristband that acts as a room key. But honestly, splurge a little and go with the Aurea package! You will not regret it! Well worth every penny!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

This was the 1st year we actually visited the area before the cruise. Our other cruises, we got in the night before and went straight to the ship in the morning. Go a day or 2 early and go check out the everglades. They are not too far from port and well worth it!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

So relaxing and laid back. This island is great as you don't have locals that are annoyingly hounding you begging you to buy their things. I can't stand that! But you do not really experience that here. Check out the "Lazy Lizard" for lunch and you will not be disappointed! It's great food and you can rent 2 beach chairs, and umbrella, and a bucket of beer for $25 for the day. Just do it!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

You MUST see the old fort! I have lots of pictures posted and it is a remarkable view! You do, however, need to be able to walk long distances if you want to see the whole things as their is a lot of walking involved. I think it was only around $7 a person, as well. Which was great. Make sure you ask the locals where to eat and not just eat some chain. You will be glad you did. I can not remember where we ate but it was so good!

Nassau, Bahamas

This is our 3rd cruise that stopped at the bahamas. 1st year we weren't really that pleased and decided it was the worst of the 3 stops on the itinerary. The next year, we almost didn't get off the ship but decided to try it our as maybe we were mistaken the 1st year. No, we weren't mistaken. 3rd year, we got off for 1 hour just because. This next year, we will just stay on the ship. I'm from the south where everyone is friendly and nice and helping. The locals are rude, pushy, yell, and not to mention, we couldn't walk 1 block without someone trying to sell us either cocaine or weed. NO THANKS! Oh, also, it smells awful! If you decide to get off the ship here, just go straight to Atlantis as that's about the only thing worth it in Nassau. We walked through it which was nice, but not worth the money, to be honest.

If you are physically able, don't worry setting your luggage out the night before. Just roll it off the ship on your own and you won't have to wait on luggage and can go straight to customs. This is the 1st year we did this and the only way we will do it from now on. Saves so much time!
