Review summary

Hubby and I would definitely sail on MSC again but would like to go somewhere else. I know for short cruises that Nassau is the main stop but I would definitely love to do a longer cruise on MSC if it went to San Juan, St Thomas, St Maarten or other ports.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy. Went from front door of terminal to dropping luggage off in our cabin in approximately 20 minutes! Love that carry on bags could go straight to the room instead of dragging them around in the Marketplace Buffet!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Hubby and I only ate 2 dinners of our 4 nights on ship in the MDR. Selections on the menu were very lacking and boring. My husband got BBQ ribs on the 2nd evening and the ribs were so tough that he couldn't even get the bones out of the gristle and fat. We found a very nice selection of food from carved turkey and roast beef to fresh veggies, fruit and salad in the Marketplace starting at 6:00 pm on our last 2 evenings. Great selection of beverages both non-alcoholic and alcoholic onboard the Seashore.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Organized onboard activities were hit and miss. The evening activities with the staff were in the main atrium but there's little to no seating in this area. There were some organized dance classes and "aerobics" on the pool deck on our day at sea. Occasional trivia but it seemed to fall during our dining time.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Stage shoes in main theater were OK but nothing to get excited about. The Caberet Lounge had "entertainment" for 4 hours each night. There was suppose to be a variety of acts from singers to magicians, and other performers by all we saw on the 2 times we went to the lounge were some average singers. My husband went to a magic show that was in the middle of the day during our last day on ship. My husband said the guy was not a very good magician...could see the cards behind his hands and did tricks poorly that kids can learn from a magic book when they're young.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our cabin steward was very attentive and made sure that all of our needs were met. Bar staff was attentive. The dining room staff was average and not very personable. We did learn that the assistant waiter was on his first cruise ever and he wanted to learn about where we lived and made an effort to interact with us.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
For a large ship the design was OK. I know that everyone has a complaint about the elevators and they do not move folks from one place to another any quicker that standard elevators. We found the rear elevators were frequently empty but they only went from deck 8 to deck 18 which was fine with us. We found some of the onboard shops 2 days into the cruise because they're not all in the atrium area. The ship was clean. The bathrooms in public areas were a little different...men and women using the same bathrooms but the stalls were completely separate from each other.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved our cabin. Plenty of room for my hubby and me. Balcony was spacious! The shower was like a steam shower but was the the smallest shower I have ever seen on a cruise ship and this was my 24th cruise. But, the shower isn't somewhere that I spend more than a few minutes each day so it was definitely not a big issue!!

Ship tip

Give MSC a try!!!

Ports of call

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Amazing beaches! The only negative is the lunch area...there's one main area & a food truck with burgers and fries. The main lunch area on the island isn't designed to handle the number of passengers on the Seashore.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Nothing to say except the port area is cleaner but after probably a dozen stops in Nassau there's nothing new to see or do. I normally stay on the ship, but with recent reports of American deaths I did not want my husband to get off the ship by himself. We spent approximately 1.5 hours off ship and returned.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not sure why everyone has to be out of their cabins at 7:00 am. I like to go to breakfast and come back to pick up my luggage but this trip we had to drag it to the Marketplace. Once our number was called we were out of the terminal by 8:30. The line for folks with passports moves much quicker than those using ID and birth certificate.
