Review summary

The MSC Seashore is a beautiful ship. We were invited by friends to join them about a year ago. We did not look at reviews until about a week before our cruise. Most of the reviews were not great, but we decided to just overlook that and have fun. Although there are many things that can be fixed for a better cruise experience, we still enjoyed it. The private Ocean Cays island was really great! The lighthouse light show and dance party on the beach at sunset was the highlight of the trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
We ate in the main dining room twice for dinner. Our main dining food was about a 4 out of 10. Some food tasted okay and some not so much. The service was actually pretty good. We ate in the Hola Tacos and Cantina one night and although the food was very good the portions were tiny. I suggest going with the all you can eat at this restaurant. The buffet food was pretty bland. Hit and miss on variety. Pizza was always good. As far as drinks and bars, the service was a hit and miss also. When we first got on the ship we went to the back of the boat to get a drink at the Sky Bar. They were very unorganized, didn't have certain brands of wine or liquor that was on their menu. No limes for the drinks. Other bars it was always a 10-20 minute wait to get a drink. No eye contact from bartenders that you even were waiting for a drink. The one bar that we usually received good service was in the Shine Bar and the Sport Bar.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We sat at the top main pool on our day at sea. It was nice, but again hard to get a drink. We did go to the game room and enjoyed that a bit.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
This is the one thing on board that I will give a 5 star rating. The entertainment was really good for a cruise ship. We enjoyed all the main shows and a Glow dance party.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
I am sure some people may have had a good experience here. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. But again a lack of training on some parts, such as bartenders and waitstaff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful and the design was good. The elevators were not great at busy times. Using the stairs was an option for us but may not be for others.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
When we first arrived on board around 2:00, our cabin was not clean yet. Not such a big deal. But when we arrived back at 4:00, it was still dirty and we were suppose to watch the safety video from our cabin. Seems like if we were one of the first on board, that room should be cleaned first. We had friends that had a later embarkation, and their rooms were clean. The size of the room is as to be expected on a ship.

Ship tip

You pay for what you get! If you don't care about the quality of the food or service, than this is the cruise line for you.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We chose to keep our bags and disembark at the first time which was 7:30. This worked great for us. No lines, no waiting for baggage.
