Review summary

I’m not an avid cruiser so I can’t compare MSC with other cruise lines, but we had a spectacular vacation. The drinks were always high quality and never disappointed. The food was good. The staff were lovely. The ship was so beautiful. The shoes were great. The views and the number of incredibly beautiful locations you get to visit for the value of the cruise can’t be beat. I’d highly recommend this cruise.

Embarkation

Long and rough. If I could do it again, I’d pay for a package that included priority embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was great. We didn’t pay for any of the specialty restaurants. The buffet food was great but the only downside was the chaos that ensued at peak times. Sometimes it was tough to get seating. The timed dining restaurant we were assigned to was wonderful (Tribeca). The food was very good but what made it exceptional was the service. Wirgi from Indonesia attended to us and he was spectacular.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The gym was really nice. We had a couples massage that was nice. The pools were shallow but beautiful. Lots of fun for kids.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Absolutely loved all the shoes. Amore is not to be missed and the funny magic Asian guy was so, so talented. Highly recommend.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Again, our waiter, Wirgi, was the absolute best. Our room steward kept everything nice and tidy with no complaints from us. The staff on board were always very kind and greeted us with a smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Truly a beautiful, new, ship that was very well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. The balcony views were spectacular. Room was always nice and clean twice a day. The back of this ship is supposed to be less desirable, but we had quick and easy access to the panoramic elevators that were less used.

Ship tip

I would opt for Aurea experience next time.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We walked around at night. My only complaint is that I would have loved to arrived earlier to have more daylight and time to visit places that would have been open. We felt very safe walking around at night though.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Absolutely beautiful. Fairly quiet. Loved it.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Felt super sketch leaving the city but once we reached our destination it was pure paradise. The little huts around the boat with little shops were really really cool too.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The lighthouse was wonderful. The beaches were truly a beautiful paradise. We wanted to snorkel and wish there were clearer signage where the best spots for snorkeling were and where is was allowed. We were kicked out of one area even though there was no signage.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not painful at all
