Review summary

We had a wonderful 14-day cruise on the MSC Seascape. Overall, the ship was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. All service providers (dining, bar, room, guest, etc.) were exceptionally polite and friendly. And there was plenty of staff to meet our needs each day. We may consider a longer trip in the future.

Embarkation

Pretty Good - Except we couldn't hear the announcements of boarding group numbers. The group numbers could have been posted on a monitor or maybe she could have used a microphone.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffets had a nice selection of food - but some of the food items that should have been warm were NOT warm (e.g., eggs, toast). The food in the main dining room was just OK - nothing really special - but the dining room service was excellent. We did not eat in a specialty restaurant. The service at the Bars and the drinks were very good. One server in particular is noteworthy - his name is MARK ORAIZ - he was exceptional - he worked the SHINE Bar when we were there. Mark was very attentive to our needs, remembered our names and preferred beverages, and was very quick and efficient. Mark was the best bar server on the ship. He seemed to multitask very well anticipating the needs of everyone in his service area - not just us.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The fitness center was exceptional. The equipment was the best we experienced compared to other cruise ships. The pools and hotubs were very clean and well maintained. We did not utilized the main pool on the top deck (18?) because the music was always too loud and we couldn't hear ourselves talk. Luckily we found quieter spots on deck 8 with more mellow music. However, we found it disturbing that guests "reserved" the lounge chairs by the pools and on the decks by 6-7 AM!!! They would leave their towels and personal items on the chair and then "disappear" for several hours or more until they were ready to use them. This seemed rather selfish to me and I was surprised that none of the staff commented about this practice or attempted to enforce the ship policy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw some dancers and listened to the musicians in the main atrium. Nice variety of music.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room (11249) steward was exceptional. He was very friendly, always available and addressed any of our concerns in a timely manner. He kept our room very clean and stocked with supplies at all times. The service at the Bars and the drinks were very good. One bar server in particular is noteworthy - his name is MARK ORAIZ - he was exceptional - he often worked the SHINE Bar when we were there before dinner. Mark was very attentive to our needs, remembered our names and preferred beverages, and was very quick and efficient. Mark was the best bar server on the ship. He seemed to multitask very well anticipating the needs of everyone in his service area - not just us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was beautiful, clean and well maintained. Each day we observed workers cleaning, buffing, painting, etc. We loved the elevators and the informative postings throughout the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This cabin size was more than sufficient for us. The bed was comfortable. The room as always clean and well stocked thanks to our cabin steward. There was plenty of storage for our clothing and personal supplies.

Ship tip

Enjoy the crowd and "people watching" but find your own quiet space. The ship is huge and there are a lot of people, but you can always find a quiet spot.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

We were shocked at all the amenities available at this port. At first, we thought it was a private resort. It was lovely and fun for all guests - especially families with children.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest disembarkation ever!!! We kept our luggage with us overnight and were pleased that we could store it on level 5 until departure. It took us only 15 minutes to get through customs after our group was called.
