Never again on MSC by Ripleyman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

From the beginning when they changed the itinerary on us the cruise was a disaster. I have cruised 35+ times on 5 other cruise lines and have never had as horrible of an experience. I even went through a hurricane on a ship that wasn’t as bad as this. The food was tasteless boring and in some cases awful tasting. Their steakhouse was good but not exceptional. Their excursions were the worst ever. Poor English speaking and boring. They try to nickel and dime you to death. Only drink available for dinner was water. Ever other cruise ship offered tea and or coffee without charge. We boarded in England - an English speaking country- but got to hear every announcement in 6 different languages. I’m telling every one I know, and strangers I meet, to stay away from MSC. by the way, I visited with at least 10 other guests on the ship who had the same opinions.

Seen lots cruise by hall5315

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The cruise was affordable, we found the ship too large as the noise level in the buffet areas were really noisy. The entertainment & food were good.

Short Trip on a Great Boat by Tanissteel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This is a beautiful ship the public areas are just stunning Embarkation: Was easy and quite quick with the usual queues. A few more desks open would have made the process of little quicker. Once on the ship you were greeted by the usual array of special offers for the spas drinks and restaurants. Our cabin was ready so we headed down the drop cases. Followed by a pleasant drink in a bar and then sail Away. Having been on a few MSC ships this one is the newest there was plenty of space the pools and Jacuzzis never seem very busy. The ship itself is very clean we went into all the bars before settling and the pizza bar where they serve beer. Service was always good too long for a refill. Dining was fixed seating only at either 6:30 or 8:30 pm our dining room was over two levels service was always good the food was as good as we had anywhere *TIP* get to know your waiters ours exceptional in their attention to detail. Nothing is ever too much trouble with attention to customer service. There's a lot of talk about small portions we eat in the dining room to stop from over eating as is sometimes the case if we use the buffet, with restaurant dining a just order second meal be it a starter, main or sweet we on occasion order a second something from the menu to share there was never an issue. The talk of no tea and coffee following a meal all you have to do is request this and they will happily bring it and we have on occasion when in conversation with fellow diners. Beautiful theatre, the best I've seen. You can see the stage from wherever you are. Productions were average the shows were quite short but filled with entertainment the storylines were non-existent so as previously said by others, the shows were very random an introduction of a start middle and end would make these shows flow, and enhance enjoyment. Talking about shows there was a major shift away from the opera singing ballroom dancing kind of shows we have seen on previous MSC ships the Swiss magician was very good the fact all the acts are incorporated into the show I thought was a nice touch. The cabin is quite standard for MSC ships we had a balcony cabin and after a just a few minutes you thought you'd been there for a long time almost like coming home. The room decor is rich and bright, that gives the room an expensive feel as does the entire decor on this ship. The TV is on the small side with a smart remote control to view ships account. There are 5 channels in German, 4 channels in Italian, one channel only for English, BBC world news. They advertise films , most you will have already seen and want to charge€7.50 to watch! *TIP* I always bring a few films and music on a flash drive a must if you have children as there is no TV at all for them. Tthe addition of a Kettle and Yorkshire tea and coffee was a welcome plus. We brought milk down with us from the bar to use. Sockets: there are 2 American flag pin and 2 European round pin on desk panel. *TIP* I always use is to bring along an adaptor to make use the power socket by the bed to charge phones they are European round pin type as a rule. The Bathroom the same as most cruise ships the addition of a glass door on the shower was greatly appreciated anybody who's had to put up with the curtains will know how difficult it is larger people have on most cruise ships All in all we had no problem with the ship or the service on board. My only running on the whole voyage was the photograph desk where they seem to work for themselves rather than the cruise line. Customer service seems to be at the bottom of their list, top of the list seems to be selling you overpriced photographs. The sooner MSC change the digital photograph sales the better across its entire fleet. All in all quite a good voyage. The people travelling to Europe I'm thinking of using a European cruise Line just remember that they are actually tailored to Europeans especially Italians and Germans. Who have very different ideas on queuing and pushing into Lines? Just remember when in Rome! Which is why we have started to do the same, or we worry about it less!. My *TIP* as always with getting good service treat the staff well and don't forget to add a tip where deserved, always works well for me to the point even returning to a ship I have met up with servicer that I have previously met and treated well on other ships and been given the first class service by not only them but their fellow servicer. Final words the ship is a beautiful ship with friendly staff and good service.

Disasterous. Do not travel with MSC by cpo343

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

On re joing the ship from our first stop a crew member lifted a bag from my wife w ho was in a wheelchair and cought her wrist which was badly strained. On another occasion when the gangway was unsuitable for a wheelchair my wife was thrown out of her chair and landed on the deck. Both times she ended up in the medical centre for xrays and bandages. No offer of compensation was made nor any concern expressed. .

Yacht Club Experience was a very bad experience - by Earl1609

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

From our 34 cruises, this was one of the worst, realy. When you pay for Yacht Club , you hope you will get a better service than in the Fantastica-class, not a worst one. We had in all other cruises a better service, a better quality and selection of foods, drinks and meals, and this had been fantastica-Class, not Yacht Club. It was realy a Yacht Club Experience, but a bad Experience. Not recommended, save the money, please.

Overall, a nice cruise. Definitely worth the price, considering length and destinations. Only downside was the many announcements made through the ship in many different languages. Luckily, they didn’t announce into cabins. Food was good. by CapBrian

Horrendous! by Carrick7577

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Caribbean

We didn't pay nearly the amount that some people I spoke to paid so maybe this is why the cabin location was so poor. Having said that, I feel that I'm entitled to a good nights sleep. I heard many British people complaining about what a terrible time they had had and they wouldn't cruise MSC again and I'm amongst them!

Overall a great trip experience. The crew were all very helpful and friendly. Better signage in the embarking and disembarking areas would be helpful. Overall good value and the ship was great.

Nice ship very clean and... by Keithn18

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Preziosa

Nice ship very clean and well looked after with is an MSC thing ( all ships very well kept) Our cabin was right at the back on deck 13 so you get a lot of vibration of the ship when manoeuvring etc also you get a lot of nose from the rear part of the buffet Trolleys etc being moved around from 05:30 everyday and as its near the lift a lot of noise from other guests. Will not have this cabin again MSC are good but if you cruise With them from southern Europe you will have a lot of people from the home port and other locations so is always very loud and the food is aimed to that area Most staff are polite but again if you use please and thank you there friendly if you treat them nice they will be However some reception staff are rude and uncooperative

The ship is too big and crowded to give a relaxing holidayfeeling but we enjoyed it anyway and made the best of it. The destinations and the beautiful things you see make it worthwhile!

Good entertainment on board but organisation to be improved by Kimchiew

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

My first experience with MSC Preziosa on baltic cruise Copenhagen to Copenhagen. Cruise cards were not ready in our cabins after embarkation. I had to go to service desk to collect it. Food quality is good but lacks day to day varieties in the buffet. The daily shows and music lounges are of high quality and the daily activities are good. There are daily dancing lessons and crew members do dance with you. Cabins are kept tidy twice daily. I enjoyed the shore excursions except for Kiel, our guide speaks Englisg with a very strong German accent. All in all, I must say it was a good experience. However I have been on other cruise lines which are better organized in their embarkation process and fire drill.

Good experience by GregTan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

As this is only my third cruise and my first in this area, my judgement might not be that fair, however I would like to share my feeling. In general it was good experience. beautiful ship, nice and clean cabin, very kind and helpful staffs, great itinerary and good amenities. For outdoor jog lover, you are able to run half of the ship only. The Gym is not bad but so hard to find free cardio machine on seadays. The complimentary meal is only served at the Inca Maya (buffet) and either Le Arabesque or Golden Lobster. The Inca Maya serves mostly european/wetern food, hardly asian and the theme is almost the same during the cruise. The menu for dinner at the restaurant changes every night but you are seated at the same table. Nice hospitality of the waiters at the restaurant, especially Dario cs at Le Arabesque table 823. Food taste ranges from mediocre to good. Theather show is below my expectation, no such great show at all. Their agggresive photographers team was a bit annoying, they were almost every where. Expecting lazy chairs around the solarium pool, but they are at upper mezzanine, so you have to go though the stairs all the time.
