crash course needed in customer service by AroonJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

here's a summary: 1 - good shows in the evening 2 - average entertainment 3 - customer service is non-existent 4 - dining is terrible 5 - stateroom is standard 6 - very good cameramen and women. 7 - maitre'de should be in charge of TSA (perhaps he was head waiter of Guantano Bay) 8 - dining room wait staff is confused 9 - we have experienced 5 different cruise companies, and MSC has to rank last by a large margin.

Our 61st Cruise and 1st with MSC Poesia by Sg111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

After cruising 60 times with other cruise lines we were a little bit leery with MSC as reviews were not very positive. Contrary we agree that it was a wonderful ship with a lot of positives in its favor provided they correct some minor things that fall short of receiving a "The Best' status. Below are some of our comments. Note: we had the opportunity of chatting with the Cruise Director Anne and the Assistant Cruise Director Tyler and went over most of the areas that we suggest addressing. They were most gracious and attentive to our comments, we hope they implement them.

Never again!!! by MelodyM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The staff were rude, the ship a collection of hogepoge pieces from other ships and smelling of mold. I bought a sode package and they ran out of diet soda half way through trip and refused to substitute even bottled water or give a refund. We were told stateroom would have 2 beds - WRONG! We were told stateroom would have unobstructed view - WRONG!!!! A view of the lifeboat was not why I booked an oceanview!

our first cruise by RhondaC2

Huge, clean and lovely decor. Too many photos taken all the time. The five languages that all announcements were made in got pretty "old".

never travel with MSC again by JonnaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

was not happy with the ship and it cost me extra money because i was told that i could get off the ship early in the morning to catch my flight but that was not the case and it was a big deal to get off the day before regarding customs, ended up paying for a hotel and rent a car because of this. translation of 5 languages is very very annoying which was the cencus through out the ship.

Good but a little lacking by Jennife98089222

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoy MSC because we feel they are "one star" behind Holland America in quality, decor, and activities. This trip was a little lacking for us - the Cruise Director lacked enthusiasm. Prior cruises had a director who was visible and excited to be meeting guests. One show had "Anna" seemingly tired and not at all vested in guests entertainment. She was basically an announcer and that was all. The large group of 1000+ Vegans who took over some areas of the ship left us feeling shut out and unable to enjoy the library which we had looked forward to using when at sea. Their events and activities seemed to be a priority - sometimes closing us out of entire areas (pool deck and lounges).

A Real Gem by Kb11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very clean, large rooms, very modern ship. Crew and service staff were helpful always. The food was very good, lots to do and see on the ship. European feel and most of the travelers were either from Europe or Canada, some South American travelers and a few Asians. 10% or Less were American Travelers.

Best cruise for dancers by JudyS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a great cruise for people who like to dance - which we do. There were many lounges and bars with lots of music for all types of dancing. There was also a group of employees that got people dancing if they were alone. All the music was wonderful and there were many types of music. There was no break from dancing either. You could just move to a different place if they took a break. All the bands overlapped. The shows were very good. We went to all of them but they got sort of repetitive. It was sort of like the same show each night with different costumes. They were very talented though and the shows were short which I appreciated. Excursions were nice. We took two and loved them both. The shopping of the ship was minimal. I would have loved a lot more logo items to buy. They pushed a lot of expensive jewelry which I didn't care about. You can get the same thing a lot cheaper at home. I would have liked more logo things from the ship.Food was very good in the dining room. We loved eating in there every night. Our waitstaff was just wonderful and friendly. Our room was small. It had a balcony which I loved but it was the smallest balcony room of any ship I have been on. Our room staff was wonderful too. Very attentive to us and friendly. Everything was very clean and towels were refreshed constantly. The worst thng was the the long long long time it took for debarkation the last day. That was very bad planning. Had to be out of our room at 7:30 am and had to wait in a freezing loung until11:00 am to be called to leave. Then we were in a sea of people for another hour waiting to go through customs. That was just a terrible morning. From now on, I highly suggest everyone carry off their own luggage. You would have gotten right off with no trouble.

Caribbean ports by BrendaB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Not as bad as some of the reviews-just average. Not a lot of food choices and they don't change much for breakfast and lunch-adequate amounts. Rooms slightly smaller than other lines but who spends much time there? Entertainment good but activities minimal. Price was the best part if you get a deal. Very clean ship.

MSC La Poesia delightful! by DonnaV3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We weren't expecting much from a 2 night cruise, but what a wonderful experience! The ship was new and absolutely immaculate. Workers were constantly painting, polishing. Very nice. We have never had an inside stateroom, but this was excellent. Large mirror on back wall made the room seem bigger, room on both sides of the bed. Lots of drawer and closet space. Bathroom had lots of storage space also. What we loved when we entered the ship was all the staff greeting us and directing us to everywhere you wanted to go. The buffet food was very good, as well as the dining rooms. Wasn't exceptional but was very good. The choices were smaller than what we were used to. The evening onboard entertainment was fantastic! Almost like a Circque de Soleil. We got to hear Tito Puente, who was excellent - as well as the salsa dancers. Place was packed. There was entertainment all over the ship; that made it very enjoyable. The ship was beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff was wonderful. Service was also very good in stateroom and in dining rooms. We really loved this boat, would definitely go on it again for a longer cruise.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Don't always pay attention to the negative reviews...my CruiseOnly operator,JB, said give it a try...and what a great time we had. We took our 14 year old grand daughter & everyone made her feel like a princess! We snorkeled, sunned, eat, shopped and last not the best had a great massage...what a way to start a cruise......
